He actually had four votes to be a lottery pick (14th overall). I'm just wondering why his stock fell so much. Same thing with CDR. He was seen as a mid to late first rounder but end up being picked 40th overall in the second round. Why did so many teams pass up on him?

that's the early report of the trade. the way clutch just presented it after the morey presser, he didnt mention that as part of it. we'll see i guess. logic tells me that we probably did lose him (not that it matters much anyway).

if we didnt lose him though, morey just turned the 25th pick into the 28th, 33rd and probably the 31st next year (memphis has gotta be the worst team in the league). draftpick-wise, it seems like a great trade whether the 54 was included or not.

Houston Chronicle is a reliable source, they broke the BJax trade before anyone else did.

Dorsey will be a great upgrade over Hayes, he will finish around the rim faster, and won't be missing easy layups or even trying to do reverse putbacks like Hayes. He is even a upgrade over Landry.

I have to wait and see about Greene.

UPDATE: DONE DEAL AND CONFIRMED. The Rockets surprised with pick #25 by selecting 19-year old athletic swingman Nicolas Batum out of France, but they have dealt him. Rockets GM Daryl Morey has confirmed that the Rockets traded Batum to Portland for the 27th pick (Darrell Arthur) and 33rd picks (muscle-bound big man Joey Dorsey). The Rockets then traded Arthur to Memphis for the 28th pick (6-10 Syracuse forward Donte Greene) and a 2009 second round pick, which Morey felt had a chance to be a good pick. More coming...

I don't get why Memphis would trade the 28th pick for 27th and a 2nd round when the rockets wanted Greene all the time.

Morey HAD to have known Portland loved Batum. He dropped 3 spots and in turn moved up in the 2nd, and got another 2nd. Brilliant maneuvering.

I think it was more about us making sure the Spurs didn't get who they wanted.

Because if they did land Arthur, they now have an insanely talented young core.

    PG- Conely (acquired tonight)
    SG - Mayo (acquired tonight)
    SF -Gay (from us)
    PF - Arthur (from us)
    C - Bogut (1st pick last year)

i'm not talking about the the trade with us and Portland...that I get....I'm talking about the trade with Memphis. So Morey knew Memphis wanted Arthur, so he took him before Memphis's pick?

I think Morey is more concerned about making the Rockets a better team.....

I don't think the Spurs getting who they want or don't want is of any concern to Morey.
