There will not be a 1st rounder going to Memphis. Why would we trade Arthur #27, #54 and a 1st Rounder for #28 Greene and a 2nd rounder. We are moving DOWN to get Greene.
What amazes me the most is the crappiness of ESPN's draft coverage. Not one mention of this trade. ESPN sucks. Bring back the TNT draft.
It was a 3 team trade. Leunen was drafted with the Rocket's own 54th pick. However Portland might be getting the 54th from Houston.
jason, I think you got it backwards. Maarty Leunen was selected with the Rockets' own pick (#54). However, that pick was apparently involved in the trades with Portland and Memphis. My guess is that the two trades were as follows: Trade #1: Rockets trade: Nicolas Batum (#25) Blazers trade: Darrell Arther (#27) and Joey Dorsey (#33) Trade #2: Rockets trade: Darrell Arthur (#27) Grizzlies trade: Donte Greene (#28) and a future 2nd rounder
I would have taken Hendrix instead of Dorsey but both of them are short, athletic defenders with long arms.
^^^^Let me clarify: Trade #2: Rockets trade: Darrell Arthur (#27) and Maarty Leunen (#54) Grizzlies trade: Donte Greene (#28) and a future 2nd rounder
Getting Memphis's 2nd round pick next year will be pretty much the equivalent of a late 1st rounder. Not bad.
Sigh....... things aren't even clear yet. Whether he goes to Portland local Oregon boy or to our Rockets he was obviously picked for a reason.
This has to it. Its the only one that makes since. I guess Dorsey is our anti Boozer. Does this make any of our 4's available?
My bad...... but still Maaaaarty Leunen, whether your homer side of you likes it or not, will NOT even stay in the NBA. Trust me, I'm a UofA fan and I've seen plenty of the Ducks. He's a prototypical non-athletic undersized player.
That remains to be seen. I won't hold my breath that he will stay in the NBA but it's exciting that he got drafted and like I said he had a very solid college 4 year college career and knows how to play the game so obviously he was picked for a reason.
http://www.draftexpress.com/transactions.php Rockets Credits: • Houston will receive the higher second round draft pick between themselves and New Orleans in the 2008 NBA Draft. Debits: • Seattle will receive Houston or New Orleans' 2008 2nd round pick (whichever is worse?) as part of the Carl Landry trade. • Minnesota receives Houston's 2010 second round pick, in exchange for Gerald Green. I'm so confused. I want Arthur. I hate the Dorsey pick.
