I dont think the Rockets are going to trade Rafer. They probably trade Sura's contract, VSpan, Head or JL III for something. They still have their MLE. Actually, not too bad at all for the picks.

As much as I dislike Rafer, I think it's ridiculous to think that JL3 or Mike James can run this team, and that the addition of a 6' guy who hasn't played a minute makes Alston expendable. I think we are better of packaging Battier with others for a quality PF, T-Mac play the 3, and have a run-and-gun, albeit small, backcourt of James and Alston. Whatever the case, we should not settle for less at the PG - it is bad enough as it is.

I agree with you!! Have you ever read such rubbish as the above article? Everyone knows that Brooke will never be able to be the starting Point guard on this team, not in a month of Sundays! Friends do not make the mistake of thinking that Mike James can be anything but a shooting Guard, he is too selfish to be a Playmaker.
At this point I have no hope in my heart for the 07/08 Rockets. Morey is turning them into a non contender- wish it wasn't true!

although i don't have much problem with the pick, this is pretty faulty reasoning in its justification. rafer sucks and has little trade value. drafting a late first rounder to be your backup pg isn't suddenly going to turn on some lightbulb that they can/should look to move rafer.

This is the last time time I follow a Rockets' draft.

They are the worst team at drafting in history.

Butthis here draft takes the cake.

Have fun with your new scrubs.

Mark my words, the Rockets won't make it out of the 1st round in the coming years.

Rudy Fernandez (from a dealwith a Miami)would have been great, but from that to Brooks? when Splitter (and Bryars, McRoberts, etc) were still available? Give me a break.

That new GM( Morey) didn't have a good start at all. There was no one pick I thought made us better for next or any other year.

I think Lucas will be gone, Spanoulis's chances of returning even slimmer but didn't he play in a SG role alongisde Diamanditis who was the PG in Greece?

We got a D+ from Ford

    Houston Rockets Grade: D+

    Round 1: Aaron Brooks (26)

Round 2: Carl Landry (31), Brad Newley (54)

Analysis: New Houston GM Daryl Morey may be the resident Rocket scientist, but I don't get this draft.
Brooks is an undersized point guard who's really more of a 2 guard in the Earl Boykins mode.

Landry is tough and physical, which fits a need in Houston, but I don't think he's as good as Glen Davis, who was available.

Newley has talent, but does he really want to be a role player for the Rockets? If not, he can just stay in Australia and be a star.

Morey's smart and he may make me look very stupid in a few years for saying this, but I think the Rockets' draft was one of the worst of the night.

I think he was being too kind.

So the rockets really wanted Rudy Fernandez but he was drafted by The suns two picks ahead of them. But they ended up trading him to Portland for cash. Seems like we could have gotten Rudy if we really wanted him that bad.
