Well, the Marcus Williams jacking laptops (and then reselling them) is kind of different. He only did that to make a quick buck; no need to make a quick buck like that once you have your NBA millions. Obviously I'm not condoning running a stolen laptop business, but I'm pretty sure the NBA looks at that kind of crime differently. A weed habit/addiction is much more likely to stick with a player even as he gets his millions, while he won't need to sell stolen laptops anymore.
Pretty much all information on the guy indicates he has great shooting touch, I just would have a hard time seeing him being the best shooter in the draft. He's like a less athletic Raef LeFrenz who has more trouble against posts. Pass
To me drafting Williams compares to dating a hot ex hooker. Can you ever really have faith in or trust her? NO!!!
Since I will be out all day and unable to follow the draft here on the BBS, my plan would be as follows: draft Fazekas. I don't care if some of you feel drafting him at 26 is a stretch. Do it, this kid is NBA ready and has all the makings of a sleeper. If he's taken and/or we choose to go down a different road: draft Big Baby. Weight issues aside, this kid is a skilled post player and dominant big man. He has the potential to be physically overpowering inside. Most post players anymore are of the finesse mold. Rarely do you see players that can bang and bruise their way around the basket like he can. I like that added element as he could become a solid scorer inside. In addition, it doesn't hurt having another big body to throw against Duncan, Boozer, Amare, Brand, etc. Stay away from: Sean Williams and Josh McRoberts Screw the BPA approach and draft PF No need to draft a 2/3. This upcoming FA class has a plethora of adequete swingmen that we could use the MLE and LLE to add. We have too many PG's and adding a backup five is unnecessary. That really only leaves PF as our major glaring weakness and fortunately due to this surprisingly strong and deep draft, we have the opportunity to add a potential rotation player even at the end of the first round. As for the second round, if you want to draft a 2/3 there: go for it. Somebody like Sun Yue makes a ton of sense from a business perspective plus I like the idea of the unknown. If this kid really is a 6'9" point that means he could realistically play any position from the 1-3. Go for it, why the hell not? As for trades? It depends. If you can package the pick/Luther or the pick/Luther/Battier or with Alston or whoever and add somebody of significance then obviously this would be our best option. Preferably a PF. I suggested the idea of our pick/Battier/Luther for Okafor. This move would be a no brainer on our part. Just an example though. I don't think the pick alone could net us anything better than a player like Diogu and even in that deal I have my doubts to whether or not Indiana would really do this.
With as deep as this draft is, where would a 26 this year rate to pick position (quality) in past drafts? Is a 26 this year equal to past drafts' mid-teen picks? If we move up to 19, would that be any normal year's top 10 pick? Just trying to put it in perspective...and I know there are those of you that have a good answer to my question.
Put it this way - after the draft is over, there is going to be a mad scramble to sign the undrafted rookie free agents, because there is going to be a ton of available talent still. Some guys are not going to be drafted this year who might have snuck into the first round last year.
I'm not excited at all. I decided that I won't watch that fu*kin' draft. That too borin' for me. I'm sleepy and I have a meetin' tomorow. So see you guys. I hope Rockets will do what's the best for them. Go Rox!
ah come on man its not boring...but i understand you do have better things to do..its all atleast you wished for the best GO ROCKETS
I think this might the a historical night in the NBA with the arrival of Oden and Durant and possible trade of Garnett and Kobe going to new teams. Yes Garnett is now officially being traded and owner Glen Taylor has made it clear KG will be traded for sure this time. Kobe on the other hand seems very quiet since his last outburst but make no mistake the Lakers need to make a move tonight for another superstar or risk losing Kobe for sure. I expect them to trade Kobe by the end of the night as the most shocking draft development ever. Now onto the Rockets and their 26th and 54th selection. I firmly believe Rockets will not draft any of the big names like Big Baby, Morris Almond or McRoberts as it has been reported by the Choronicle. Instead I expect them to wait for the opportune moment and take Sean Williams as the pick. My final board ranking (if available) 1) Sean Williams 2) Marco Bellinelli 3) Rudy Fernandez 4) Morris Almond 5) Glen Davis GO ROCKETS!!!
Could someone by chance post a good Sean Williams highlight tape? There are I believe a grand total of zero on youtube.
Well there in Houston there is probably 5PM but here in Poland it's midnight (+7 hours). So I'm pretty slepey But again guys: GO ROCKETS!
