Gagne... The only problem I see is that sandbox has him listed as a P. I remember guys being left out of position all year long..I had someone last year who was listed as a rp but was in the rotation the entire year. I need a closer on my other sbox team... My main guy is Sasaki and I had Gordon.Someone waived Kim and hopefully my waiver for him will clear, but I'm only 7th. Listen to this story...I make an offer to this guy that has no catcher.I offer T.Hall and J.Weaver for T.Hoffman.This guy also has Foulke and A.Benitez and I tell him I'll take any of the 3. So the guy puts this exact quote in the mill... Cool I think...but Durham is my only 2nd base...so a quick check on the ww and I notice Ortiz from Col. Cool because I don't really want Damon and this Ortiz guy might be a nice player for the Rockies. So I pick him up and waive DeJean,my 2nd rp.I make the offer to him Durham for Hoffman..after all this was the deal he laid out. So he declines this and offers back.. Hoffman/Easley/Burke for Durham/Ichiro/Cameron ..WTF ? Talk about rape. I adjusted my roster for the deal that this guy offered and he pulls this crap..what a prick So I make back the original offer and along with it I paste his quote and ask "how can I possibly be misunderstanding this ? " He just declined it with no response ....anyway I thought that was pretty cheesy but I guess I'll just let it go.
50 Pts Nice way to start the season. 27 (9 innings) 5 (SO's) 10 (WIN) 5 (CG) 10 (CGSO) -5 (Hits) -2 (Walks)
Shouldn't that be 45 pts? I forgot to add in the 10 pts for the win in my above figure, but I was under the assumption that you don't get the 5 points for the complete game. If I can remember correctly, the 10 pts for the complete game shutout supersedes the 5 pt complete game. Am I correct?
I don't know where the little "p" is but the big "P" as in Pedro is getting his ass rocked. DAMN! 7 hits allowed, 6 ERs in 2 innings.....He did strike out the side in the second after the damage....
Has anyone checked the message from the commissioner in the Rumor Mill on our league page? Apparently, SportsTicker (Sandbox's Stat Provider) doesn't count Blown Saves so Sandbox is removing this stat from their game. I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but shouldn't make much of a difference IMO. They are still working on the scoring/standings as some players still don't have points. I will be glad when they get everything figured out.....
Maybe I jumped the gun on Padilla and Patterson but I had a gut feeling that I better make the moves. With the talk of Piniella leaving Pineiro in the bullpen, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to grab Padilla who looked awesome against the Braves tonight. In the Dodgers first game, Gagne was one of three relievers to pitch in the game. To my surprise, he was the first reliever used followed by Quantrill and Carrara. Not exactly what I wanted to see with me expecting him to be the Dodgers closer. I guess I will have to live or die with tonight's moves.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/65221_mbok04.shtml Mariners Notebook: Pineiro back to pen Joel Pineiro's tenure as the Mariners' fifth starter didn't last long. Pitching coach Bryan Price told the right-hander yesterday that he was returning to the bullpen, less than a week after being given a job in the rotation. "We can develop him into a front-line setup man or a closer," Price said. "He's throwing 92-95 mph out of the bullpen. That's hard to find. We really need a power arm in the late innings. "We talked about the importance of that position and him taking over. We were going to think about it during the off day (today), but we decided this made sense. We like him better as the fifth starter, but it helps us as a ballclub to use him this way." Pineiro should get more appearances, if not innings, in a setup role. "I said it from the first day of spring training," Pineiro said. "I just want to pitch. They told me not to look at it as being demoted, just an opportunity to try to help the team." The Mariners plan to use a fifth starter just seven times in the first two months of the season. Those starts will now be split between right-hander Ryan Franklin and left-hander John Halama, both of whom battled Pineiro for the spot during spring training. Halama will start Tuesday night in Anaheim. "We'll use Ryan and John as starters," Price said. "This will give them time to figure out what they can do. We can use Ryan and John in the bullpen as well." Ironically, Pineiro knocked himself out of the rotation by pitching too well in a relief effort on Opening Day. He threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, piquing Piniella's curiosity and ending, at least for now, his career as a starter. "We've seen a little of what he can do," Price said. "We're doing what's best for the ballclub. We're trying to sell everybody that we can do it with the talent that's here. In the past (few years), I think you've seen guys willing to do that: put everything else aside and put the team first. We told Joel he can help us win big ballgames."
Whenever it isn't down, I still think Sandbox offers the best game format when it comes to fantasy baseball. Hopefully, they will get all these scoring issues solved and these accessibility problems will go away.
Damn, The Vatican City Cardinals got 34 fantasy points tonight from Randy Johnson but then lost 17 of those points due to Smoltz's (-17)!!!
Smoltz will burn in hell! On the other hand, though, Randy Johnson vs. the Brewers has got to be some sort of cosmic joke. BTW, I have 7 starters that I'm happy with. If anybody would like to do some sort of consolidation trade, either 2 pitchers for a really good pitcher, or one of my position players + a pitcher for a better position player, let me know. I'm stacked with starters.
How in the hell was I able to get Hank Blalock off the waiver wire? He hasn't gotten off to a good start but look who he has had to face. Oakland has the most dominating pitching staff in the league. You are all going to regret letting this guy slip away. Being #10 on the waiver wire priority list, I never thought I would get him so I didn't bother to make a claim. But lo and behold, I check the waiver wire to see who got lucky and my oh my to my amazement there he is with the words "free agent" next to his name. Today has been a good day.
I don't think I'll regret it ......I had Hinske rated higher than Blalock and he has started off on fire....Hinske is assured of an everyday job, Blalock really isn't...If it was a keeper league I probably would have went with Blalock... but I needed someone at 3rd who is producing points and I didn't have that.
Bradon Looper must die! I wonder if I can sue the guy for the two damn wins he's blown for Ryan Dempster already.
I got a double dose of Astros power today with Biggio's 20 point game along with Oswalt's 24 point game. By the way, Lieberthal is available for anyone who wants him. I just picked up this years Paul Lo Duca. His name is Mike Barrett.
