You don't have my option in the poll. I live in Texas, born and raised in Houston, and moved to Austin over 25 years ago. Texas is not in the South.
Deckard, once again we are limited to only 10 options. we all know that this thread proves one thing.. CLUTCH CITY knows no boundaries. its something in your heart that makes you strive to win despite the odds.
Did we (the Rockets) have international recognition before Yao? I love seeing all the fans from anywhere but Houston. That is awesome. I am in Houston, born and raised in the dirty dirty .
I think that most international fans were here before Yao(besides the asians, of which a lot came after we drafted yao). But i do not think the rockets got more europeans and Aussies because of Yao.
from houston (inside the loop) but I now go to college in Middlebury Vermont. Hopefully I'll go to law school in Austin next year and be back in Houston in 2010.
Wow, dont tell people here that you like San Diego better than Kingwood/Houston, we have LOTS OF HATERS! being a Rockets fans in a non Rockets city is always tougher, but it shows that you are TRUE.
I'm born and raised in Houston. However, a little over a month ago I moved to Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Also, I think it's interesting how some people consider Texas the South and others don't. It's an interesting debate. I can see how if you were from El Paso, for instance, you'd feel a whole lot more South West than South. If you live in Houston, however, I just don't see how you can talk yourself out of it. You're in a state that fought for the South in the civil war, in a city called 'the Bayou City', and just to the east of Houston you have swamps and to the south you have a town called 'Sugarland' because that's where the sugar plantations were. So let's see: Fought for the Confederacy? check! Bayous? check! Gators? check! Old plantations are now historical sites? check! Cotton plantations were common at one time? check! rank among the nations worst in education? check! (We're number one, baby!) Klan still active? check! every city has a Robert E. Lee Highschool? check! Historical heroes are Sam Houston, Jim Bowie and Davey Crockett? check! (those guys are all originally from other southern states even if they did die in Texas) Geographically at the bottom of the country? Check! I think it's safe to say that even if some of Texas isn't truly Southern, Houston is. Incidentally, if Texas isn't in the South, what is it? And what about our neighbors, Louisianna, Arkansas and Oklahoma? I suppose an argument could be made for Oklahoma, but the only state even bordering Texas that was never considered Southern is New Mexico. So yeah, I just don't think there is a very strong case for Texas being anything but Southern. Hmmm.... this debate probably belongs in a different forum doesn't it? Oh well. Guys, even if other parts of Texas aren't in the South, Houston is.
I'm from Houston... But I live in NYC...the question is where do you live... I say East Coast is my answer
I knew its, the wealthy kingdom, at North Kalimantan (aka Borneo) island. I was born same island called West Kalimantan, grew up Jakarta, now in Tangerang.
The south will rise again. I wonder if you seperated "Houston" out of the south, what this poll would look like ...
