Just because you have been a rocket fan longer doesn't mean others do not know about the Dream even befoe we were rocket fans. :p

Pryuen and I are cool with each other. you should read the threads more carefully. I'll always let him know what I think.

You're constantly talking about how you think all Rockets fans should be united, and how we should all appreciate the history not only of our team, but of this website as well. I agree with you to a certain extent, in that if new fans WANT to be educated about the history of this team, and this website, we should all be willing to teach them. However, it's not fair to say that if you don't appreciate what Larry Smith did when Hakeem was out, or anything along those lines, then you aren't a real fan. You're defeating the purpose of even STARTING this thread (which, in my opinion, simply wasn't necessary to begin with), and you're dividing the very fans you wish to unite. You don't make people appreciate history by cramming it down their throats.....you let them immerse themselves in it at their own pace. Any fan of the Rockets who has come across this board cannot help but revel in the past glories of this team, and that has nothing to do with you TELLING them about them. And you know what, if they DON'T want to learn about the team or the site, that's their prerogative. It's a free bbs, on a free site, on a free internet, in a free country. Not everyone shares the same passion for the team as you or me, and that's their right. It's their loss, but it's their right. And honestly, as long as they're rooting for us, who really cares about the motives they have? Even if they are rooting for us simply because they hate the other team more, I'm still down with that. The more the merrier.

And if this thread really DID start because somebody simply stated that this site wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Pryuen, then I think you need to check your insecurities at the door. You claimed that comparing people to apes, and Taiwanese spies were simply metaphors, yet you can't understand the concept of hyperbole? How can you expect people to NOT be offended by what you say, because it was stated out of passion for the Rockets.....yet, you you can't even get past someone using hyperbole to express their appreciation for Pryuen? Something tells me that Clutch doesn't need or WANT to be told everyday by people on this site that they love him, and that they appreciate what he's done. And while I'm sure he's touched that you've taken up defense on his behalf, he probably deems that as incredibly unnecessary as well. Unity doesn't have to be a "RIDE OR DIE" mentality. All it simply means is that ultimately, in the end, we're on the same side of the coin. How we got on that side of the coin doesn't really matter.

I am unsure if that is a function of me not reading carefully enough or you conveying the message in such as way as to be misinterpreted by a couple of us.

I met "AKEEM". Coincidentally, when he was hurt and sitting out because Bill Cartright hit him in the eye... AND LARRY SMITH was the one with who replaced him the lineup!

I met him and Calvin and I got autographs of both. I told Dream to get better, he said "THANKS KID".

I'll post the pic of the autograph later tonight. You realize this means I've been blessed by the ONE.

What's next? 100 thread titles in a row stating 'Rockets rule!' just for the sake of it? It's looking like the ESPN boards lately around here. The pertinent Rockets discussion is being overrun by personal vendettas. We get it, you don't like the influx of Chinese fans. Here's the yellow brick ignore list, tinman. You too macgreat.

Hopefully these flame bait threads will sink off the top of the front page in a few days and we can get back to talking about the Rockets offseason moves. Crazy huh?

I like Pryuen. Like I said mentioned to him, he needs to be less biased. I'm trying to turn him into us. If Yao does bad, its ok for people to criticize his bad play. If Yao goes player of the week, then he deserves praise.

The day Pryuen gets angry when Yao misses a rebound or doesn't take it strong that would be the day. People criticize Yao cause they know he's REALLY GOOD and that he can do better. People don't attack Yao for no reason. Barkley may have thought Yao stunk, but Yao later proved to Chuck that he was good. Is he Hakeem yet? no. So we shouldnt treat him like the Dream until he reaches that level.

"anyone who disrespects this site should be banned like a Taiwanese Spy in Shanghai."

You may find that analogy funny, but I think it's tasteless.

Look, I don't like Pryuen because of his bias opinions, but I do appreciate his translations, it adds to the richness this site posesses.

You started this thread because ONE hyperbolic comment someone posted about Pruyen's contribution to this site? I don't think he meant to insult Clutch or the Rockets but reading some of your posts, you've not only insulted Chinese and their culture but many die hard Rocket fans as well. So it's not okay to hate Larry Smith if you're a Rocket fan? Where does it end? Posey? Rice? I can understand the Dream but come on...

You make it sound like complimenting Pryuen's translations, is a direct insult to Clutch and his contribution to this site. I'm sure the poster didn't intend it like that...just like many of your posts that I'm sure you don't intend to insult Chinese and their culture.

With all due respect Tinman, the same standards should be applied to Larry Smith. He shouldn't be immune from constructive criticism. Anyway, I'm grateful to Larry Smith because his shabby treatment of Yao apparently brought Steve Francis and Yao closer together because Francis had the guts to stand up for Yao and protect him from the foul language. Now I understand why Yao referred to Steve Francis as his big brother in chinese. A big brother stands up to those who try to bully you.

    Rudy T
    Calvin Murphy
Role models for you and me
Rudy went on to coach championships
Calvin was the best on TV

From the Oilers of Luv Ya Blue
To the day Ralph beat the Lakers
fans singing " We will, We will, Rock you "
    That team had unlimited powers
    thanks to the twin towers

When Moses tought the Dream about the lowpost
to the day the Dream rocked the East Coast
    The Rockets left their mark
No parade for New York or John Starks
The only one ringing a bell
    would be smiling Sam Cassell

From the crisis that the Rockets were for sale
we stepped up and saved them
like when the Rockets down 0-2 in Phoenix
    saved by Vernon Maxwell

We gave birth to big shot Rob Horry
This is where he started his story

    From Cutino to Steve
to the fans cheering "WE BELIEVE"
    Larry Smith was Mr MEAN
the best on radio is Steve Foley and Gene

    From Yao to Tmac
    and now Steve's back
    from JVG
    to now coach Ricky

Now many don't know about any of these stories
they only care about themselves and one player
not about Clutch City and its glory

we will make this board great again!
we will not cower and wilt
    for this is CLUTCH CITY
the house that Calvin and Rudy T Built

    b****ES!

I agree with 99.9999% of this except the house that "calvin" built? I was 8yo & had barely moved to TX when Calvin & Co went to the finals in '81. I guess I'm confused or I'm focusing more of him as an announcer vs player?
