Just look at that statement, it is way to laxed. The whole rocket team need to be hanging over a barbecue pit.

Learning to win is a process. We need someone on this team to take personal responsibility for these losses. That person doesn't seem to be emerging unfortunately. We'll be better off once someone fills that role on this team.

Step up Stevie, take the responsibility damnit! That's what leaders do!

completely missed the game, caught some highlights on sportcentre and reading some reports, my only question is how on earth did Earl Boykins score at all??? who the hell was guarding him, they deserve to be shot!

Smeg, FYI, when Boykins was in college, he was the 2nd leading scorer in the NCAA one year (more than 28 ppg).

Ive been wondering this for a while

Why the HELL does Rudy take out our best players in the key moments in the game. In very close games in the 4th he always takes out both Steve and Yao, and put them in with 5 min left. Can anyone explain why he does this?? Every time he does this and the game is close we lose in the end.

I just dont see the logic in taking out 2 of our best players in the 4th quarter, we never did this with Hakeem and Clyde what gives? Can anyone explain this?

I agree that Yao should come in earlier in the 4th quarter. When he came back last night he score some basket down the stretch. Even though the offense didn't go through him, he was able to get some offensive rebound and put back. From what I saw, Yao usually play well in the 4th quarter. I think he should come back around the 9 or 10 minute mark instead of waiting until 5 or 6 minute mark. Those few minutes sometime can change the outcome of the game. The other thing is either Steve or Yao should be in the game. When they are both on the bench the team offense is very stagnant. I think another problem that we have is our role player are not playing well either. Both of our forwards position have been weak. I think since they all couldn't score much then we should put out there the best defensive players at those position to make up for the lack of offense from those positions. Bad defense in addition to lack of scoring is a bad combo.

I think RudyT is taking Yao & SF out to try different combinations; but sadly this time, it did not work too well.

Boykins was doing a number on Francis. Not only did he score on Francis and Moochie, he gave Francis lots of trouble on the offensive end. Instead of taking easy jumpers over Boykins, Francis would try to penetrate against him and Boykins was just way to fast to get around.

I think CM is refering more to SF cuz point guard runs the plays. I don't know why Yao sit out and bring him back in the late 4th qtrs. Yao always play well in 4th quarters. He seems to get the the line alot too in the late stage of the game.

Did you watch the game? Mobley WAS the Rockets offense. He did everything for the team, but he got no support. When the "superstars" on the team are all shooting under 33%, not to mention being destroyed on the other end by Troy Murphy, Earl Boykins, and Eric Dampier, you aren't going to win many games. While no one wants him to airball shots, blaming Mobley for this loss is just total BULL****!

I just dont get it... why is when the offense is clearly not working... the rockets still do the same thing over and over again. Dribble up the court, waltz around for a while, and then take a dumb shot. And in the fourth when yao was clearly playing better than any of the rockets, why didnt the ball go through him to slow the game down and to settle everything???

if I recall both YAO and Francis missed potential game winning shots, both going wide to the same side.
no one...no one...on the rockets was alive in the forth quarter...in the third...the Cat woke up, and then they showed some life after the come back from nine. but after that....everyting went back the way it was all night...

As much as I like Rudy, I fault him for this loss (mostly). Boykins guarding Francis? Why the Rockets didn't clear out and let Francis take Boykins to the low post I will never figure out? Rudy should have taken advantage of this mismatch. He didn't and it cost the Rockets the win.

Until the Rockets play smarter basketball, they will never be able to hang with the big dogs. Embarrassing loss that showed the Rockets are a work (still) in progress.

One reason the Rockets lost was that, the guards lost faith in Yao and stopped getting the ball to him after he missed consecutively his first several shots.

They started by getting the ball to Yao early in the game. Unfortunately Yao missed his early shots (a little rusty after days' rest, maybe). After that, it is an all-guard game for Rockets. Sometimes, Steve or Cat missed 10 or more in a roll, they still kept shooting. Why they didn't give Yao a chance? While, Yao also shares the responsibility. After the early missed shots, he seemed tentative at shooting. Noticeably when Cato was on the court, he didn't go into the paint enough as well.

If the game plan is go-inside (as they should), they should stick with the plan. Don't give up because of some early missed shots.

Oh so true, quantum. It was obvious that was the game plan, and when Yao missed 4 in a row they stopped getting him the ball. Dampier is pretty good defensively and Murphy doubled on Yao all night. Yao made one strong move and tried to dunk but Murphy blocked it.

It is frustrating watching the Rockets lose games by just playing dumb basketball.

Even if Yao is not getting his shots down he still can pass the ball out from the high post.If it's hard to get him the ball easily because of the defenses the guards can still penetrate and dish the ball inside after making the defense collapse. If Yao is still struggling they should continue to go down low from time to time so Cato can go in the paint and dunk.Ball movement should be a constant part of the offense so we can get open shots, this can also make it harder for players to defend against Francis and Mobley.
