Yao had already 4-5 shot attempts. Coach definetely gave him the green light.

I hope the Rockets don't go into their pattern of ignoring Yao for the rest of the game after he has a good first quarter. No excuse this time as he has no fouls yet. Go team!

Yao is having a difficult time finding his shot (3 for 8) in the first quarter. Hopefully he can find his 66.7% touch back for the rest of the game.

im not watching the game, only watching the espn game cast, why is yao settling for jump shots and turnarounds from outside the paint? im liking those rebounds though, doubledouble at the half and robinson in foul trouble already

Looked like Yao was forcing some of his shots. Perhaps feeling the pressure of being told to shoot more? Wish he would occasionally take it to the hole with force instead of settling for jumpers.

Our bench was not doing good now against Spur's bench.
KT is still struggling with his offense.

I think this is what heypartner was talkin' about earlier... Yao Ming, if forced to create his shot (further than 2 feet from the basket), often has to rely on his fade-away jumper... which is probably the least reliable of his arsenal.

But good things are still happening with the ball going into Yao. He's playing well and aggressive.

Cato is much worse. K. Willis scored 6 points in a row on him; and he has shown nothing in return.

    :(

Yao is not shooting well tonight. For those of you who think its a good thing for Yao to put aside his outside shots and just work on his defense, this is what you get. Skills do get rusty if you dont use it.

from what I can tell from the radio broadcast, Yao's shots are backironing, so he might be a little anxious. I'll still take more points than shots any day.

    Silly.

Yao Ming most definitely is not relying on game-time to work on his shooting ability. That's simply not true; working on the mechanics of shots happens in practice.

It's true that he might be affected by lack of confidence... but that just means he needs a couple shots to get going.

By the way, those watchin' the game will realize his defensive presence has been awesome tonight. Not sure if he's gotten a block, but he's affected everything in the lane on defense. I like the Rockets' coaching strategy.

Moochie is hot; and KT is quite good as well.

If Yao has been hitting weight training, that could also affect his touches. It might also explain why his FT % has been off too.

You need real games to keep your shooting touch sharp. During regular practices, you are playing pretty much against the same players, not so in real games. You do need to "practice" in real games to keep your touches going.

guys, just 2 shots and YAO is back to 50%. More important, Rockets is leading 9 points.

This team is really a pleasure to watch when they are executing well! Looks like everyone came out with the past few games in mind and determined to give Rudy's way a try. Hope they keep it up

The offense right now is looking so much better when its run through Yao. He had a nice assist to Mooch, and him and steve seem to be working well together during this run

Yao got 15 pts and 10 rbs already. I can't believe it. His stat is now better than Duncan's
