Oops... didn't get to finish that post (accidentally hit Tab and Enter real quick - reflex from AIM).

Anyways, it was a 90% woohoo... same concern I've had past few games. Steve's offense. Especially now that Yao might be able to open up the lane for him a bit more lately, I'd think he'd be able to score easier. And last year through the beginning of this year he shot so consistently well when he wasn't in pain.

My first thought was some untold pain/injury he might have, but could his recent inability to hit the J have something to do with Mobley's absence? Anything? Seemed like both of their games sort of declined together this season... dunno, just a thought.

So the BBS is just a bunch of basketball wannabes that know nothing about the game! Well I suggest the Rockets stay closely tuned right here, they might learn something. Have we not heard week after week on this board that the offense must be run through Yao Ming. Did we not go crazy after a breakout performance in Dallas when the Rockets couldn't seem to find Ming on the road. There is more basketball knowledge on this board than many think. Wasn't this the place that went nuts about endless isos, weren't we the ones who talked about the desperate need for motion, for defense, for crisp passes, for intelligent decisions, for no excessive dribbling (did you see Moochie tonight), etc. etc. Stay tuned Rockets, we know a little about basketball in this place.

I only got to see the highlights.Yao was fantastic. He is so smart, knows how to involve everyone with his passing. He shot so well.Excellent turnaround jumpers, and fine positioning for his dunks.18 rebounds is very impressive, and 3 blocks with Duncan being unable to shoot over him. We actually start resembling a team when the ball goes through Yao.Francis still has to make better decisions and cut down the turnovers but he was aggressive in the 4th quarter.Moochie looked very good in the highlights, taking a pass from Yao and shooting a 3.
Got to keep on cutting down our mistakes and working hard can help us win close games but it was great that we won by 14 points tonight.

I like Moochie Norris out there. He does not dribble too much, tends to pass, and shoot quite well. He will work great with Yao.

Steve has 7 Turn Overs. What's up? Yao Ming and the rockets got 10 point lead into 3rd quarter, then we have 5 TOs in a row and they got back into the game. Fortunately in the fourth quater we played like the second quarter and beat Spurs.

Man does it feel good to beat the Spurs, esp. after the horrible showing in Sac-town. A few comments:
Yao - played fantastic. Nothing to say that hasn't been said already.
Steve - continued to have problems playing with the ball and TOs but played well otherwise. He seems to be accepting Yao as integral to the team and more willing to give it up and feed off of him. BTW, he's clearly the best outside shooter on this team.
Eddie - it was nice to see him play with some confidence again. He played great defense on Duncan and was aggressive on the boards.
Mooch - got the offense rolling and was hot from the field.
Rice - still slow as molasses. If he's not on fire from the field like he was in that one game, there's really no need for him to be on the floor.
Now we just need to find a way to keep playing like we did in Seattle and tonight, and play consistently from game to game. We still have a lot of work to do before the playoffs!

I think a game like this shows how Francis and Yao are the nucleus of our team for the next 5-10 years. Now we need to see how the role players fit. I think the Lakers (as much as i despise them) are the best blueprint for our success.

Damn, this is the only Rox game that I missed in November. I was so upset with the one in SAC that I decided not to watch this one.

Looks like a terrible decision. Go, Rox!

How did the Rockets get going again in the 4th quarter which led to decreased turnovers? Was it because of penetration and dishing, passing the ball again to Yao, better defense?Who was the primary ball handler in the 4th quarter,Francis or Moochie?

How about my man TMO!!!!! I thought he really showed that the preseason was not a fluke. Take my word, this is the missing piece we've been looking for. I think TMo may open up a whole new world of opportunities for the rest of the Rox if he continues to hit the J at least somewhat consistently. Rice provides this, but I don't think he'll be able to stand the pounding of the whole season. GO ROX!

Yao Ming's combined numbers against the state of Texas this regular season, 57 points 34 rebounds. That's an averaged of 28.5 ppg and 17 rpg against Texas. That is just stupid and they better pray to god they don't get the Rockets in the first round.

It was Moochie from what I can remember was the primary ball handle in the 4th quarter. I recall about three minutes to go Francis was yelling for the ball from Mooch and Mooch didn't pay him no mind. He dribbled a few times and dumped it down to Yao. Yao turned and nailed the shoot. Steve seemed a little frustrated at the end. We regained the lead and moved ahead when we started going down to Yao. Also SF and Mooch had some big buckets in the 4th quarter.

Did anyone here the comments that Moochie told Lisa after the game? She told him he looked more comfortable on the court when he was dishing the ball down to Yao. He said that Rudy really trust him and that he is going to run the offense that Rudy wants ran and the plays Rudy calles even if it makes some of the other players upset.

Did he just let the Cat out of the bag? Sounds like some players (he didn't mention any names) don't like the fact that Yao is becoming the focal point of the offense. Moochie seems to love the fact that Yao is on this team. I bet he becomes Yao's best friend on the team.

my first ever rockets game and it was a dandy. i only have two gripes: 1) i was sitting in section 205 and there was a spurs fan making racial comments (mocking the chinese language and referring to yao as jackie chan and others). what's up with that? i guess plain of ignorance.

and 2) i couldn't stand it when the rockets would isolated kenny thomas with yao on the floor.

besides from that, i loved it.

In a conversation with a chinese reporter(also one of Yao's
close friends, I think) Yao did say Norris was his best friend
in Rox so far. It was a few weeks ago though. Don't know
if he has changed mind on this, coz he also said he gets along
well with Francis despite all the rumors just a few days ago.

Last night CCTV aired a show featuring Yao. His former coach who has been with him since he was a kid said Yao's possible sucess is based on two things:No1, stay healthy; No2, get along well with Francis and Mobley.

I think Yao also realize this. He will try hard. Possibly he can achive the No 1 if he keeps playing smart , however, No 2 goal seems a multi-player game.....
