Yao needs to build that shoulder muscle to get that quick vertical jump.

How will shoulder muscle improve his vertical?

In order to increase jumping ability, it requires the muscle development of the whole body. I learned that from a self-help tape. Legs are the most critical, but the upper body can help out too.

Maybe a little, but the shoulders are more for post posistion.

you are taking it too far. its not as if ming is trying to break world records like they do in track and field where the athletes have to train their whole body to get every last ounce of production out of every muscle.

if ming just did simple jumping exercises trying to jump as high as he could over and over again his vertical would get better. its just a matter of working out in that manner. many many reps not weight. if shaq can do it ming can do it too. anyhow isnt using too much weight how ming lost his vertical in the 1st place? wasnt he working his legs out a lot and lost like 4 inches on his vertical?

Rockets need to learn some patience. Seeing what Payton is doing tonight is really interesting. The Rockets are getting beaten because the Sonics are getting good shots in the third and the Rockets are not.

When the Rockets start to fall back a little bit, they panic and start to take ANY shot rather than the GOOD shot. Moochie passes on an open three and dribbles into a tough shot - all off-balance or contested. As a result, the percentage is lower AND the shots come up short because they get tight.

It reminds me of the difference between a young running back and a veteran in the NFL. The young guy tries to run around or through everyone because they are going full speed on every play. The veteren knows to be patient and wait for the defense to commit.

The young guys what look like wide open spaces in the defense into 2 yards. The vets turn what appears to be no hole at all into 8 or 10 yards. It's all about patience and right now the Rockets don't have much.

Man Payton may not be scoring but he is the catalyst. According to ESPN he already has 16 assists with a minute and a half to go in the third quarter!

    One Pass, ISO...jack-up shot

    One pass, two pass....ISO...jack-up shot

One pass, two pass, three pass, ISO...jack-up shot

One pass, two pass, three pass, four pass ISO...jack-up shot

Actually, scratch that last one. We never would pass four times!

It looks real horrible in the 3rd quarter. I hope we can find one of those clutch performances to get back. Payton is really screwing us (with Steve in trouble) and 3 points are raining.

Okay, now, for the first time this season, I am really pissed off. The Rockets didn't even make the slightest effort on defense in the third quarter. Undoubtedly, it is going to cost them the game.

It now appears painfully obvious that the Rockets were only taking advantage of the pitiful offenses of Denver and Carter-less Toronto, to rack up those defensive stats.

Seattle is a good offensive team, but not this good.

I don't think I can stress enough how disappointed I am in the Rockets. I am going on vacation tomorrow, and was hoping for a nice win to send me off. It is going to be a much-less enjoyable "holiday".

The worst thing is, I have great seats for the Seattle game on the 29th. Looks like another waste of money.

We just aren't clutch, period. This is not the Rockets of 93-94. Those teams, loaded with veteran players, knew how to keep teams at arm's length and not panic. This young team has no idea how to do that. They were playing great, moving the ball, getting open looks. The Sonics string together a few shots, the Rockets miss a few and, all of a sudden, they fall apart.

It's youthful impatience. They don't know how to stay calm under pressure. As a result, guys like Francis and Mobley THINK they have to take EVERYTHING on their shoulders and they forget what kept them in the game in the first place - team basketball.

It took Olajuwon nearly 10 years to figure that out. It took Jordan about 8. Very few players get that early on. Nevermind the fact that none of these kids has ever played in REAL pressure at this level. They've never felt the weight of the playoffs or had to go into the last minute of the game down two with elimination facing them.

If you don't know adversity, you don't know how to face it. These kids don't get it yet.

The Sonics are proving that assists do matter. The Rockets have been exposed as a team without anyone who can run an offense. Steve is a great player, but they have to get someone who can distribute the ball.

Young? How did the young Hakeem do in his 2nd year?

And how long can you use that excuse? One more year? Two?
    How about five more years?

That's a copout. It's all about hustle! Determination! Anger! Fire!
They are playing timid. Scared. Wimpy. Like wusses.

If you can't score, then clamp-down on defense!!!!

    Show some tenacity!!!
