I went to the game tonight. My talking Rudy T bobblehead is bad ass.

I have to say thought that the most disturbing thing I saw at the game was at halftime when the two team came back on the court for warm-ups, Mo T greeted Derrick Coleman with a big hug like they were best buddies or something. Taylor needs some better role models.

I think Snow is trying to receive the ball instead of passing...

Sooner or later, it would be like,

hairdresser: "how do you like to have your hair cut?"
person A: "Give me a Yao cut"

Hey, I just got back from the game. Nice to see a pretty big crowd tonight. There were a lot of kids. My section was almost entirely children, and it RULED!!! The kids were so into the game, they were yelling "De-Fense!" and "Go Rockets Go" and making things up for the other sound clips during the game -- it was GREAT!! Straight up, we need more kids at the games because they are not shy about getting into it and cheering for the Rockets, unlike so many fans.

I too got the Rudy Bobblehead. The bobble action isn't as good as the other bobble-heads I have (Cuttino Mobley, Jeff Bagwell), but I *LOVE* the talking feature. It's awesome. I must've listened to the 3 soundclips a half dozen times.

I also got a WONDERFUL bonus. I got to the game an hour early and I saw a bunch of people filling out all star ballots. People filling out GIANT stacks of them. I was like "Hmm, let me see if they're giving something away". Well, sure enough, for filling out 300 ballots, you get a Yao Ming autographed T-Shirt. I grabbed 300 and spent the entire hour before the game, every timeout and all of halftime unfolding, punching, tearing, and folding those damned ballots. But HELL YEAH BABY!!! I now have a Yao Ming autographed T-Shirt!!! It is the coolest Rockets thing I have -- the ONLY autographed thing I've got (although I have a media guide from 1971 with Calvin Murphy's home phone number in it). I'm running out tomorrow to get a frame for it and hang it in my office. This RULES!!! I bet they do this again so be on the lookout. I certainly will be.

I heard that caller on 610. His exact comment was along the lines of: "I think the Rockets may be shopping Yao Ming . . . trade him for Jay Williams and Eddie Curry". I was like "WTF!!!" Obviously everyone else was too. There was another caller later who was REALLY hating on Steve. That guy was almost as bad as the "trade Yao Ming" caller.

Great way for Cuttino to come back. Gosh was he a valuable piece tonight, really in the flow of the offense, making good passes and beating his man off the dribble. In a lot of ways, Cuttino is a bonafide go-to guy because of his one on one skills. In the first half, we started to struggle a bit and Cuttino took charge on two straight posessions. That ignited the crowd and the Rockets. As this team grows together, we are REALLY going to be special. Cuttino is a great fit, IMO, with Yao Ming and Steve Francis. And what about the Defense tonight. Everyone played good D. VERY VERY VERY nice game.

I think the Rockets have firmly established themselves as a second-tier NBA team. By that I mean there is the first tier - Lakers, Mavs, Kings and (right now at least) Pacers. The second tier is the 76ers, Nets, Spurs, etc. We are nicely ensconced in that second tier with an amazing amount of growth potential. Tonight we played like a first-tier team. When they run Rudy's offense, and people hit their shots, we are arguably as good as any of those first-tier teams. We just lack consistency and experience. And how does that come around? Experience. Give this team 2 more years and they'll give us some championship hopes.

almost all american fans (and reporters) were saying that before the season. The dumbest ones are still arguing about that.
But what would all these rockets believers have said if the Bulls had had the #1 pick?
Krause was going to draft Yao, he even tried to trade up to get him...

Funny you should mention that Ryoga. You read my mind. Had Chicago got the first pick, you bet they would've taken Yao. Why the secret practice for them and NY? But alas, this topic is for another discussion thread.

Is this really happening?? Yao has a chance to be a great player, I feel so proud. Whenever I listen to an opposing teams radio station, they always talk about how good Yao Ming is and that the naysayers are just redicolous for talking smack about Yao.:D

This bothered me too, because the announcer didn't back it up. If you ask me, there is no way Kareem was more polished than Yao. Maybe he was more physical and more effective/dominant as a rookie, but more polished? No frickin' way.

Talk to the old school guys about that one.

Wilt was the most dominating. But, Kareem
was the the most anticipated rookie.

He was polished over-all because he was athletic AND knowledgeable.

Yao has more skill in terms of BB-IQ, shooting
    and passing.

But he lacks the strength and speed.

Kareem was over-all more balanced in all categories.

    That's why they said that.

Yao will be where Kareem is in 3 years.

    YEAH!

'Almost all American fans (and reporters)'?

I know that there were naysayers, but almost all?

Who just read the paper, the attendence was over 15,000 (15,522 to be exact). It was kinda full, but I managed to move to better seats :)

But i give props out there to the people that went. That would be great if the attendence keeps up like that for the rest of the season. I planning to go on Saturday and planning to go all of the Sat. home games.

    Dave,

I didnt notice that. Thats great!! Maybe Yao fever is catching on. This is a great time to be a Rockets fan and to see Yao's growth in person.

    ----------------------

Also, did anyone else notice that KT's jumpshot was back last night? He has really struggled with that shot, which has been reliable in season's past, so far this season.

If KT can keep that up, I think we will see less of him trying to slash and force things and instead, get his points in the flow of the offense depending on how other defenses guard Yao. :D
