Yao had to learn how to play with the Rockets and he did. Now the Rockets need to learn how to play with him.

    Post-Game Thoughts --

Like the esteemed Mr.Jones, I only saw the second half so I missed Yaozilla destroying Beijing...errr, Dallas but I did notice him getting knocked around quite a bit by Najera in the second half. To his credit, he did seem more agressive. Defintely more confident...wow, I just get goosebumps thinking about what this kid's gonna do.

IMHO, we were good, Dallas was just plain ole better. I had no major gripes with the way Rockets played except they still haven't locked Mobley in the basement, like I suggested to Rudy.

One last thing, was it just me or did Kenny Thomas seem a bit off?

Watching the game, a big diff seemed to be the fact that Dallas in the third and fourth worked the ball to guys with wide open 3's or layups and we had to work like a dog for an ultimate bad shot, not always but often enough to be discouraging.

Kenny only played 15 minutes but made some stupid fouls on continuation plays when he should have knocked those guys down instead of giving them 2+ 1. Maurice was off being only 2-10.

Kenny was not off. He just isn't worth a damn against the good teams in the NBA.

I was very impressed by the coaching in the first half...you can tell Rudy did a great job based on the number of passes by rockets each possession...it kinda remind me of the good college teams passing it like crazy till someobdy get a open shot...Rudy made up some good plays that I've never seen to beat the zone...

The second half is a different story...tell me why in the world is Mooch and KT doing out there? Oh right, its because of KT's 'great defense and rebounding', I forgot....KT's game doesn't fit the Rockets' system...he just doesn't...

Maybe what he meant was that he is happy about the perspective we have with Ming playing like that and we should take that as the bright aspect of today's game - so, in perspective, it is more important that we realized how dominant Ming could be for us than the result of today's game.

Moochie Norris... uhhh makes me sooo

KThomas... uhhh makes me soooo

    yaoMing :D

    Mobley

Dallas outplayed the Rockets on both ends of the court. they hit everything they threw up tonight. Rockets will get better, and that makes losing to the Mav's somewhat acceptable to me. Its early. This is yao's 10th game.

Mobley sucked tonight... I think that was probably the difference tonight. We could have used Cato in that second group instead of running KT at the C. KT sucked tonight too. He didn't look like he wanted to be out there.

We better kick the crap out of the Wizards. I know Mobley will give up 30 to Stackhouse, but whatelse is new... right

This is how game is lost:

    1) Cato's absence hurts us tonight. Yao is a bit tired in the 2nd half. Rockets can not keep up with them when he's on bench. After he get in, he a bit slower to get into the position than the first half, also due to the zone Dallas plays.

    2) Our guards have no patience on offense or doesn't know what to do against the zone. Once Ming not establish position earlier, they keep jacking up outside shots and miss, or turn the ball over. They are trying though. But to win teh game, you need to play smarter also.

    3) The defense on Dirk and Finley is poor. Give credit to Nelly though, he made ajustments, and finally run and gun down the rockets.

The team still don't know how to win yet, not quite know how to use Ming in the second half. But the ball movement in the first half was excellent.

That's what I thought and hoped at first, too, but when I reread it and read some of his other posts, he seemed more concerned with Ming glorifying the Chinese race than helping the Rockets.

    goto,

Ming was fab! Love the way he's directing his teamates. He realizes that Rudy won't teach or doesn't know. Really sad to see
Ming tell CM where he should be. Ming showed that Rudy didn't need to bring him along slowly. Les should hire him as a coach. Rudy sat him too long at the beginning of the 4th. He's 22yrs old! Ming should teach the guards not to run along side Nash and Avery. Norris doesn't even try to fight through the pick. He creates the automatic mismatch that he won't defend anyway. Boki should saw some time because he pentrates and passes. Let the And 1 All-Stars (SF,CM&MN) sit when they are not playing well. Rudy can have the guards pick up for 94ft. They will curse him and he will relent. Rudy is their friend first! No plays, no adjustments, no win!

The Rockets should have passed to Yao more in the 4th quarter. They shoud have made an effort get him in the post. Najaera was fronting him, but lob it in to Yao. How the heck is Najera gonna stop him in the post. Najera is a hacker, he whacked everybody on the Rockets tonite. Yao would have been fouled by him. By not passing to him in the post, kinda took him out of his game. It made it look like Najera played good defense on Yao. He had one shot attempt I think. That zone defense really bother the Rockets tonite, especially Mobley. The Rockets will get them back next time in Houston. I'll kiss Kenny's ass if they don't. :D

Way a go YAO MING!!!! Man, it was fun to watch.

I have to admit I was a little upset in the fourth quarter. I love Stevie and Cat, but not once was the ball thrown to Yao. Not until Stevie was pulled out with a little more than two minutes left in the fourth quarter and Moochie came in. Moochie quickly passed to Yao on the first opportunity. What happened? Najera (correct spelling?) fouls Yao. That is when Yao scores his 30th point on the free throw, but it was too late by then. The game was over.

I am not saying that if Stevie or Cat would have passed to Yao earlier we would have won the game, but I am sure we would have played better as a team. There you had Yao being guarded by Najera who looked like a point guard guarding a center. Throwing him the damn ball!! No way Najera could stop him. I thought the Rockets like playing the match-ups. We definitely had the advantage on that match-up.

The only thing I can figure is that may be Stevie wants to carry the team on his shoulders in the fourth quarter when we are behind. Who knows?.......

Although I was upset about the fourth quarter, it was a great game to watch. Yao Ming is for real!!!!

    Go Rockets!!!!

the mavs defense made jason freakin kidd look like a middle school point guard last week. there were some sloppy mistakes on our part but dallas is just suffocating.

anytime a guy is 10-12 he hasn't taken enough shots. that being said yao was clearly winded in the second half and we didn't adjust when dallas changed their defensive strategy.

anyways here's the positive. dallas has been playing together for what 3 years now? that's a polished machine that has stomped EVERYONE. don't think of this as a game that the rockets blew because it wasn't. you can't pin it on anybody. dallas just flat out took it so props to them. i'll say this though, we're gonna be amazing in time.
