Finally, we just mad a pass to Yao down low. He got double team and got foul immediately. We sure have done this through out the quarter. Man, Please tell me who's fault is it.

Props to Yao, Francis and Rice. Finley and Dirk, too.

    Up yours, Cuban.

when players are not shooting well, does it hurt to slow down the game and play a low post game. Mavs like to play fast tempo game. Rox is just playing following their tempo of game.

Rockets had no chance in this game. They should keep working on Nash.

Very good call. This is a case of a team that is GREAT NOW versus a team that CAN BE GREAT LATER. I'd love for the Rockets to be on Dallas' level eventually - later this year or next, but hanging with them as they did shows that they have improved. Dallas is just that good.

    Heh heh...

Cuban will have a lot more chances to complain about Yao getting
    calls...

...that usually means that the guy getting the calls "has game." :D

    Charles Barkley on Yao Ming:

"Yao Ming makes Shawn Bradley look like Bill Russell."

In fact, after this game, Barkley's quotes should be changed to:

"Yao Ming makes Shawn Bradley look like Shawn Bradley himself."

Once Cato comes back, we will go on another big winning streak. I think the only thing that hurt us is that we had to play PF at the Center position. If Cato was in the Mav's game, I'm pretty sure we would have had better, more constant defense (Cato is very active and with him we would never had to use the small line ups.)

I never thought I would ever say this, but I miss you CATO!

I said that about 10 times tonight. He was playing NO defense. Hell Avery Johnson was scoring on him. His dribbling was hypnotic again - I don't even know if he can still penetrate and create - he seems to enjoy dribbling around until there are 5-7 seconds left on the clock.

Mooch used to be my man - now I wouldn't put him higher than 9th on the rotation behind Ming, Mo Taylor and Hawkins off the bench, but ahead of Collier and Rice(unless he gets consistent with his 3pt shot). ;)

I only saw the second half. I don't have cable and can't afford it and I had to be at a function for work. I left early to catch the second half.

I am not a hater. And I haven't criticized the Rockets so far this season, for all the good reasons. But I'm criticizing them now. The second half was horrible. I blame it on every Rocket but Yao and I blame it on Rudy.

The last time any Rocket passed the ball in to Yao we were tied. He had the only hot hand (excepting Rice) and as soon as we tied the game early in the third we NEVER passed to him again. So they started fronting him. So what. They were fronting him with Najera. I mean, at least fake the ****ing pass to get your man off you. The Mavs had to respect Yao to win and they did. The Rockets had to respect Yao to win and they DIDN'T.

This minor tragedy, like all the great old major tragedies, came down to one tragic flaw: HUBRIS (or excessive pride). Late in the game Yao might as well have been playing with those jealous Chinese guards who refused to pass him the ball. Like he said back then, he doesn't always need to shoot -- he can pass out too. And when Steve looked good in the second half it was mostly after Yao touched the ball.

When you've got a guy shooting 80% or better, you let him ****ing touch it. Even if you're going to shoot eventually, you let him touch it to draw defenders. And when the only guy who has any chance at all of defending him goes to the bench, you don't send him to the bench too.

We were playing the best team in the league, record-wise. We were tied. We had a very good chance to compete for the win. And then we decided going to Yao was boring or obvious or too easy or whatever and decided to diversify our offense. WHY????? Because our guards are prideful and Rudy was too much a sissy to do anything about it.

I'm a Rudy fan. I'm a Francis fan. I'm a Mobley fan. But they all sucked it up tonight. It wasn't about the Mavs defense. Sure, they changed it, but after halfway through the third no one even ATTEMPTED to pass to our 30 point scorer. No excuse. No excuse. No excuse.

Yao had to learn how to play with the Rockets and he did. Now the Rockets need to learn how to play with him.

Yao was awesome. He was very impressive in the low post with his dunks and postup game. His rebounding was better than before and I liked his shot blocks. His position defense also was a little better than before.Najera stole the ball away from him but it was because of the double and triple teams that were thrown at him which restricted him to few opportunities to score in the 4th quarter. I thought Rudy made a big mistake by taking him out when Bradley got his 5th foul.We were 7 points down at the time and could have narrowed it down with Yao on the court.
Our defensive rotation and switching was poor tonight which made things difficult for us. Dallas obviously had the big mismatch with Dirk on the court and neither could Rice or Mobley could matchup against Finley but Avery Johnson and Adrian Griffin also got many easy points because of poor defense.
We really need to get down and work very hard on our overall weaknesses in practice and learn on the fly. Big guards make it hard for our guards to sscore against them especially Mobley. He was hesistant in taking the ball off the dribble which he needs to do even when his shot isn't falling. Moochie did better today despite his mistake against Najera at the end of the 1st half.
I think we can make it to the playoffs if we get more balanced scoring, better overall defense and not to get down quickly when things aren't going right. It's going to be a challenge but all true Rocket fans are behind the team.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned earlier in this thread, so if it was I apologize. But, Eddie Griffin looked absolutely lost tonight in the game. I'm not even talking about all the missed shots. He was so out of the flow of the game and it seemed as though he didn't know what the hell to do with the ball when he had it.

Also, Moochie Norris is absolutely worthless.
