    I do see some improvement in Yao's rebounding technique. He doing less reaching, and more "boxing out" and just going up to get the ball with both hands (with elbows pointing out like a weapon!). That's good!

    He did have a bad habit of "tipping the ball" around. But, that has more to do with bad boxing out and timing, rather than whether or not he should use the "volleyball" technique (i.e. tipping the ball to himself).

    You can use the tipping technique when you box out properly, and time the tip. Yao's problem, if he forgets to boxout, is that he can't afford to only do "tipping" because he's not a quick jumper like some of the other guys in the league. He HAS TO put a body on someone.
