    I know it's a pipe dream but.........

If only we can somehow trade Steve Francis & Cat Mobley for Jason Kidd and Elton Brand. Then get an avg. NON-SELFFISH veteran shooting guard.... oh man!

    Jason Kidd
    Elton Brand
    Yao Ming

at the time it happened, i just hoped this sequence didn't come back to bite us... rockets down by 10 or so at the end of the third quarter. The rockets get a case of "can't dribble to save their lives," Mobley dribbles a ball off of his foot, Miles picks it up and takes it for an uncontested slam dunk. That's a four point swing in a game we ended up losing by three.
You could see that the closer the Rockets got to the Cavs, the more they cratered. Same thing happened when the Cavs had Dallas beat earlier in the year only to lose that game as well. You saw how the Rockets forced the ball into the hands of the poorer shooters i.e. Miles, and made some defensive stops.
The fact that opposing teams consistantly get open looks off of picks for the ball handler is what gets the Rockets in trouble. Our big men don't show and thus our guards are left trying to get around the pick which leaves the opposing player open for a jump shot. Man, I can't wait to see how this Defensive "strategy" works against the Jazzholes
Well back-to-back games against Utah... the real run for the play-offs start next week. Hope the team that left Houston on this quick roadie shows up next week.

As dissapointin as this loss is we can't blame it on mobley. He shot over 50 percent, had 24 points, and he he 6 rebounds. Those are good numbers by my standards. Don't trade the CAT!!!!!!!!

I understand but a coach is there to make it easier for the team to score by designing plays and making a timely substitution. rudy's style is more of a player's coach style where in he let his players decide on what to do. with younfg players, this is not going to work. he cannot even talk or advice his players to move the ball and stop too much dribbling. and even if he has, i do not think they are listening 'coz they keep on doing it.

people talked about giving yao some more touches. what did they do? they give him touches but everyone else stand around. they just let yao work one-on-one for several plays. that is not his game.

i think this year is the final hurrah for rudy t. enough of the excuses. enough of anything. if they do not make the playoffs, get a new coach. better yet, fire him now. trade some players and maybe, just maybe they can get in the playoffs.

Kidd would make Mobley an All-Star.

You know it. Don't deny it! :D

By losing to Cleve we have placed ourself in a group of teams that have done so.:

    Clipper - twice
    Lakers - early
    Chicago
    Toronto - twice
    Denver
    Miami
    Seattle

So we are in the same level as the Clippers, Chicago, Denver, Toronto and Miami.

We may have more talent then all of them, but we play at their level and will as long as the one on one crap continues. When we get different people or the ones we have realize that passing to the open person is not a bad thing and missing a high light on ESPN will not be the end of the world. I think the world of Rudy, but something has to change, be it the coach or the attitude of the players. We have too much talent to let this crap continue.

That's only if Mobley doesn't touch the ball first going downcourt, cause then the human black hole wouldn't let go of it most games until a wild shot or pass had been attempted.

    Interesting...yes...

They stand around because they don't know the skill of "moving w/out the ball."

If they would only realized that if the work a little w/out the ball, Yao would find them.

    exactly!!

what i do not understand is they do it someday then the next game, they go back to the damn isolations.

you cannot say it is due to inexperience. beats me.

I thought it was because he blatantly hooks whoever is guarding him over and over again without getting called for it.

another thing is they stand around because rudy t. always say to SPREAD OUT!!! SPACING!!!

for what???!!! so that his players can do their show-off, one-on-one, isolation skills.

no wonder. USA lost in the last world championship. they have a ton of talent alright. but THEY LACK FUNDAMENTALS, TEAM-METALITY, and SMART BASKETBALL SKILLS.

I have to think anyone blaming Francis for the lost due to the pass to Ming when he was open on the brake away with a few seconds in the game, well you are just wrong. After playing with Ming for the entire season and passing to him very little, how can anyone think he could pass to a 7-6 player without any experence at it?

Does Rudy design plays? I'm not familiar with the Rocks coaching staff/setup but most pro teams in any sport have an offense coach, defense coach and an analyst who work the plays. A good player is one who can think for himself and can improvise. No matter how many plays are taught it is never the same on court because of all those different minds thinking different ways (opposition aren't stationary dots). To survive one must improvise. Again Rudy can't think for his players while they are on court. It's not possible.

SF is a good player. He has talent. However, he is a bad PG and he will never be an excllent PG. The Rockets need a real PG. A PG who has less than 2 turnovers and more than 7 asts per game.

Yes, but they're REAL SIMPLE plays....

"Ok guys, listen up...whoever gets the ball first, do your stuff! Got it? Alright! Let's go get'em!"

[Francis and Mobley's mouths are watering around this time... with that "gimme the ball look"]

Regardless of our poor offensive decisions and turnovers, another reason for our loss tonight is our DEFENSE.

We did Ok job on big Z, he got his scores/rbs around his average.
We also did OK on R Davis, he got his 21 pts, but he also lighted us up with 10 dimes.

But it is their role players that had killed us; Jones hit like three
consecutive threes with nobody was on him; Palacio only averages 4 pts but scored 16 pts on us with 7/9 shooting and hitting two clutch free throws; Diop hit 4 of 4 getting 8 pts.

If we played a little better defense on these people, we would ...
