The entire squad is learning to pass to the open man? It takes about 3 seconds of elementary school coaching to learn that.

i didn't get to see everything b/c i was watching UT win primarily but the offense looked real good tonight and francis was very good from what i saw. ming looked like he covered about 15 feet on that up and under, that was amazing how close he got before laying it up. anyone complaining about stuff happening when we're up 16 with 5 minutes left needs to shut up. also, did cuttino feel he was a little under his TO quota there, racked up 3 in a row w/ about 2 minutes left. very good game, easily took care of a team w/o its star like we should have.

Oh yeah?

How about 50 points, 10 rebounds, 10 dimes, and 0 TO, and a LOSS?

Sorry but we aren't talking about STATS. We are NOT talking about
winning or losing.

We are talking about breaking bad habits! Breaking the old patterns.

Changing a mind-set. Playing as a UNIT!

No, he just dribbles too much which makes it seem that way. Steve isn't selfish, he actually needs to shoot more. I don't want to hear no complaints, we won, we're 2-1 now. Smile and be happy.

:D See?

Great, bench 3 of our men, just let Steve/mob to go iso , 2 on 5. They need more practice for their iso.

Totally agree!!!!!!!!

> There is no way Yao or the Rockets will reach their
> full potential if
> Francis and Mobley continue to play the way they
> are, forcing shots
> and not looking to involve others. I'm surprised
> Rudy T does not
> have better control over his players... it is
> clearly one of the most
> inefficient offenses in the league. I say trade
> Mobley for a pure
> point and move Francis to the 2...he will never get

True... interspersed between about 50,000 adoring comments aimed in Francis's direction.

Look, I'm a huge Yao homer, and wouldn't be a Rockets fan if Yao wasn't a Rocket. But enough already, let's agree at least that Francis had a great game tonight.

Did he make mistakes? Sure, there were open guys he could've passed to. Sure, he looked like he was havin' fun more than trying to win the game at times. So, he can do better. Who can't? Did anyone on the Rockets have a perfect game tonight? Point him out for me some time.

Francis needs to learn how to play with Yao as much as Yao needs to play in the NBA. There will be an adjustment period for everyone involved, and they will get there if both parties show a willingness to work. And so far, they have.

Windandsea,

Well, what do you think now (about Yao and the Rockets)?

Is he a good fit, or not?

The Rockets crushed Toronto, does that make Toronto a glorified CBA team?

heech,

Be aware that there where 3 fast break turnovers that Francis made that
where awesome!

Now, how can I say that a turnover was awesome?

Because the passes that they attempted had ball movement and
motion. The meer fact that they are TRYING to have ball movment
was good (signs of the 5-man offense).

So, it's not about being PERFECT. It's about playing within the system.
And when they do that, even if it's a turnover, it great!

The reason that it was a turnover, is because they are just getting use
to that style of play. That's fine.

But, when they start doing the ISO just because the system offense isn't
working, then they fall right back into the same patterns that harm
the team.

You might say, "So what?! Steve had shot the light out!"

Then, I would say, "What about when Steve has a bad shooting night?
What then?"

If he doesn't practice getting his teammates involed NOW, then he will
pay for it later when he has a bad shooting night.

I just don't get the issues with Steve. Yes, he struggles at times because he tries to do too much, but when you lead the team in scoring by quite a bit and can get to the basket at any time, you SHOULD go as much as possible. No one complained when it was Dreamshake after Dreamshake...

Oh, wait, yes they did.

In the first three games, Francis is scoring 29 points and shooting 49 FREAKING PERCENT from the floor!!! I mean, crap, what else does the guy have to do?

Perhaps. I just want to win. ISO, motion, Steve with 50, Yao with 50, whatever. All summer everyone has been waiting for the season to start to actually watch the team grow. Now this has easily been the best played game of the early season and still all I see is b****in. Relax and enjoy an easy win.

Thank you Jeff! Cat has to cut off the bone-headed shots, and he did so for the most part until tonight. But aside from the Cat is actually scoring over 20 ppg. I think it's somewhere near 23 ppg to 24 ppg. Like Jeff said, Cat and Francis are fine until they feel they have to take over because of lapses in the game. They just need to relax, play their game, and keep everybody else in the game. Their numbers are great, but their focus isn't sometimes.

It wasn't as ugly as I thought it might be, but it was close in score. Instead of 83-73, it was 88-76, how about that! :D
