Our problem tonight is we don't have inside presense
offensively. Yao and MoT combined for 8 pts as starting center and PF, that won't get thing done.
We need to have the post-up play. Otherwise the guard oreinted
ISO play will not lead us anywhere but lottery. Past couple of years have already proven that.

If Yao can't give us that inside presense night in and out due to whatever reasons, we have to find somebody else who can do it .

After tonight's loss Mobley had this to say:

``They outhustled us 17-10 on offensive rebounds,'' Mobley said. ``They were getting second shots and then they started scoring easy. They play boring and we fell into their game. We walked it up the court instead of fast breaking and doing the pick and roll.

I just don't know how to take that. Pistons played boring ball by grabbing boards and getting second chance shots that whopped your butt?
You shouldn't worry about it's being boring, you should worry about it's effectiveness.
That boring play just thumped your brand of basketball by 24 Cat.

Yeah. WTF is "boring?" Is passing the ball three times before a shot "boring?" Is taking less than 10 dribbles before you pass "boring?" Is not driving into the teeth of the defense (even when you have a 4 on one break) "boring?" Is not forcing shots early in the shot clock "boring?" Is passing as a first option and not as a last ditch resort "boring?" Or is it the way the Pistons execute a team game that constitues "boring?"

I guess not getting Sportscenter highlights and averaging fewer than 20 points regardless of whether you win or lose is "boring?"

I swear I don't think these knuckleheads learn anything from these thrashings. Teamball wins. Dribble, dribble, dribble ball doesn't. After a thrashing from a team that doesn't compare to the Rockets in terms of talent, I would hope to hear players noting what a basketball IQ and efficient play can do for a team.

I thought the way the Pistons played was anything BUT boring. It was a thing of beauty. They play like a well oiled machine. No fancy dribbling, no fancy passes, no one on one plays. Just smooth, simple, beautifully executed team basketball.

That young coach Rick of Pistons has done a wonderful
job to have this team full of journey men play really well.

This just showed that Cuttino Mobley really doesn't even have a slightly idea of how to play winning team basketball.

But I blame Rudy and our coaches for this. How could they not teach him after so many years?

Agree, he is very good, look what Piston has, I can see all hard
worker player getting their reword under his system.
No one as talented as Cat are, aren't they?

You'd think that SF and Cat learned their lessons the last two years, but I guess that's asking too much of them. They won't change the style of their play unless they got their hands cut off.

But my biggest disappointment is that Rudy did not seem to have learned anything either. Everyone can see that ISO's ain't gonna cut it but Rudy is still employing that very same strategy after two years of miserable resutls. Every coach around the league knows that Yao is underutilized in Rudy's offense but Rudy still doesn't get it.

One thing is for sure. We need to make some changes because status quo means no post-season. I just hope that someone in the Rox organization recognizes this urgency and take some immediate action.

I know this is in hindsight but I'd rather Yao going 5-17 from the field rather than Mobley.

Unlike Mobley, Yao at least will try to create a play rather than jacking up ill-advised, time running out, zero percentage shots...

I hate to write it but this team at the moment is the most likely team to miss the paly-offs through its own ineptness to play within the concept of a team sport.

Maybe we can nab Lebron James and become the ultimate -all-time ISO team!!!!

There should be a new league whose only criterias are: no teamwork, all iso's and jacking up shots with one second on the clock.

We'd be the defending champions in no time. :D

Can't believe you encourage/promote 1-on-5 basketball. Don't you understand that our main problem stems from that?

At least that could be a good practice for Yao, if Rox's problem is inside presence. He needs to take as many shots as possible before he could get a feel for the NBA court.

We have seen Yao-only fans on this board. Now we have a SF-only fan. :(

Rudy was the guy who said the Chinese national team didn't know how to utilize Yao Ming at the world championships. Now it is he himself who doesn't even have a clue on how to utilize Yao Ming. He said it would be easier for Yao here, since they have star guards Francis and Mobley. Guess what is happening now.

How can Pistons be boring? Obviously, Mob thinks that pistons really don't have any star like him and Steve, flashy, can create own shots etc. Hey, that team really played some team basketball, and everybody knows his role.

I think the Rockets are one of those up and coming teams in the Western Conference. I don't think they are there just yet. THey have to get rd of a few dead weights ie: Rice (I still don't know why he's in the league) , Cato, and Mo Taylor. You have the superstars in Ming and Francis, excellent role players in Mobley Norris (who I wish the Pistons picked up in that 1996 draft believe) and Griffin (who I feel has the star potential all over him)

Now it's all about keeping the core together and futher developing ming.

Yao is tired which is fairly evident by his overall game, I don't blame him for being tired, he has every reason to be. I just wish he could somehow get some much deserved rest, a good time for this would be All star weekend but as we all know he's in the game.

For once I can actually say that I missed Griffin, well at least his rebounding and shot blocking. Does anyone when he is going to be back so that he can continue his incredibly slow development.

Losing to Detroit is pretty sad, although going into the game, I knew it'd be a slow boring ugly game, as most Piston games are, but I at least thought we'd win. If we lose to the Bulls that'll just simply be a travesty.
