KarlW...so confident in your predictions that you had to let everyone know twice? ;) Just kidding...

Hopefully the idea that Yao gets up for big games against big time players continues to hold true (duncan, j o'neal etc.)

So far this year, many of the league bests super stars have bruised up a lot by the Lakers. Vince was injured pretty bad after playing the lakers, and so was T-Mac.

I don't care if we win or lose, just that we survive.

I think it will come down to Franchise choosing between playing for the team or playing for the national media. If Kobe gets to his reduced salt head, it could be all over for the Rockets. Fisher owns Moochie.

I think Rudy should start Cato...bring Yao in after about 8 minutes of Cato pushing Shaq around. He can always bring in Jason C. for 6 more fouls.

Yeah...that'll help get Yao going. Just bench the better player and start the backup. Showing fear is the last thing Yao wants to do right now.

just curious...why do some of you continue to insist that Yao's confidence will be shattered? After hearing and seeing how mentally strong he is, can you still insist that Yao is weak enough to so easily have his confidence destroyed by an opponent? Think about it..

This is a HUGE game for the Rockets to show themselves and the rest of the country/world that they have made some real progress on the court..

My key to the game would be, stay on the outside shooters, we have been allowing them to burn us lately.and the Fakers seem to be on a roll from outside..Stay tough and play the type of defense that we know you can play..

Good breakdown by codell...and it's great to see Sage back after a short break..Welcome back dood..

Its gonna be tight, possibly a OT game..
Im an optimist and a homer, so I have to go with the Rox on this one..
Rockets win a close game, Yao holds his own against the Big Dumbass...

    Rockets- 102 Lakers- 99

    Yao- 17pts, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 3 assists

    O'Neal- 31 pts. 14 rebounds, 2 blocks

Kobe- 9 for 27 shooting 23 pts loses the game for the Lakers

    I hope so!

    The calm before the STORM!!!!!!

Yao has been quite the past couple of games. Personaly, I think he was just saving his energy for this game. I expect Yao to breakout once again against the Lakers. Remember what he said in LA, "seeing those banners and those familiar colors, purple and gold, does something to him"
That night, we all knew what happened and it will happen once again. Combine that with the fact that Shaq has been dissing all chinese people in general with his stupid jokes and Yao should have enough motivation to get another Technical Foul for taunting after slamming Shaq's ass to the ground!!!!!
Mark my words, this will be one of the biggest nights in Rockets History and these comments come from a Knicks fan who now lives in TX! There is no homerism here!!! :D

Look for Shaq to hard foul right away, he will want to send a clear message to Yao, "Welcome to the NBA....rookie!"--I'm not sure if Shaq can string together that long of a sentence though...
Secondly, centers who have shown mobility and touch, and I don't have any hard stats to back me up on this, can put up some good numbers on Shaq, for example: Hakeem, Mourning, and even the Dunkin' Dutchman! Shaq, when playing taller players, is also more likely to bite on good head-fakes and jukes--two things Yao is fairly good at--however, Yao MUST keep the ball up. I think Yao could take Shaq base-line all day, much like how he played Duncan and the Admiral--both faster than Shaq. The Dunkn' Dutchman had success against him when he moved quickly in the lane or base line and used his height and reach to get to the basket.
Either way, Daddy is gonna get his points--hopefully Cato will have something to say to him about hard fouls! Let us all pray that Kobe's femine parts are irratating him into a bad shooting night; that is the best way to keep him from getting his points. I agree with the other posts, we win in the small foward battle. Rockets win 102-94.

Her we go ya'll Rockets and Lakers goin at it at Compaq. The matchup we've been waitin for is finally here! Im not gonna beat around the bush, this is a BIG game for our beloved Rocks. The Lakers are the defending champions and are back at full strength. It'll be a great game to watch and the Rocks have played well on ESPN so im lookin forward to a great ballgame.

    Key Matchups:
    hmmm......I wonder??

    Yao vs. Shaq:
Shaq has established himself in the league as THE BEST center in the game. Yao has established himself as one of best centers of the future. Wait, he's a great center now! Yao is better than Shaq hands down. Hes got so many more skills and is a much better all around player than Shaq is. Shaq however has brute strength on his side. Yao is gonna be taking alotta hits tonight....he betta bring the ice....I think Shaq will win this matchup tonight but Yao will earn Shaq's respect w/ a 14 pt. 10 reb. 3 blocks type of game.....and a coupla blocks coming rite in Shaq's grill!

    Mobley vs. Bryant
The 2 headed monster of the Lakers team is better than ever and Cuttino will have his hands full tonight when he faces one of the best players in the league.

    Player to watch:
    Robert Horry and Eddie Griffin
Welcome back to Houston Robert! Look for him to wanna impress Houston fans.
Griffin should be able to hold his own and play well against Samaki Walker, who i still think is more of a threat off the bench.

The Rockets and Lakers will put on a great show for us tonight. You know a friend of mine had tickets but I couldnt take em cuz ive got work till 830? Damn these jobs.....Anyway, Have ur televisions locked cuz were in for an instant classic, u know I will.....got no choice....

    Lakers 89
    Rockets 92
