I'm with you rocket113. On that last play, considering how hot Morris had been from outside, it would've been a GREAT idea to have him enter the ball into Yao on the low post... since it's very hard for his man to leave him to double.

In the mean time, have Francis cut through the middle.

10 seconds left, Yao with the ball in the low post, Francis cutting to the basket, Morris sittin' at the three-point line after making 2 in a row... I *like* that scenario. What I don't like is the random "hey Francis, penetrate and if you can score... score.. if you can't, kick it out! Yao? You rebound!" (Did you see Rudy's hand motions near the end? I think that's what he was reminding Yao his role in the final play was.)

well, I don't know if the Rockets can recover from this one. But the advantage is that they do not get much time to think about it.

We will see how resilient the Rockets are tomorrow, whether losing actually makes them stronger, or whether losing kills what little confidence they had left.

The Rockets lost despite running the offense the way it should be run, through Yao ming. It was awesome.

I have never seen Yao get that many chances in the post. I was impressed.

but it seems like Mobley does not fit into this new (old) dump it in offense.

It sux so much to be a fan of a team like this. It's one thing when you're a fan of just an all out craptacular team cuz when you see a final score like this, you don't really care so much, you expect a loss. In fact, in this case, you might be happy that your Nuggets or Grizzlies or Cavs got this close. It's a heart-breaker when it happens to a team that once was thought to be able to contend...

This is not a good feeling... just feeling our playoff hopes getting stomped on madly by every team in the league, from top to bottom. We're done, this f**kin sux, I hate this. Maybe I'll become a fair-weather fan, it seems so much easier... :(

    ONE LAST POST...

    God.

    Reasons for loss:

Posey was no where. Partied too much.

Mobley was TERRIBLE. Did not make anything. Was not involved but played OK defense.

    Steve Francis's missed free throw.

    Lucky shot by Matt Harpring.

GREAT OFFENSE by Jazz that RUDY COULD NOT STOP.

And then GREAT DEFENSE that Rudy could not beat.

    And THE REFEREES.

    GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That old ref was like whistling every single time the Jazz went inside.

The other ref we had DID NOT MAKE ANY CALLS. Golly....that ref just sucked it up. MAN..................they had so many 3 point plays and only took 1 3 pointer. And yeah.....that referee. Yao was HIT SO BADLY.....wtf was that about?

And Malone pushing Cato? Isn't that a technical or EJECTION?

Well we lost. Because they are a better team. And we are a bad team. And they are a playoff team. And we are not a playoff team.

I'm telling you my old high school weight room is great, and JV bench players are really underated. Make the Trade, Mobley's moronishness has gone on long enough!!!!

Sorry, it doesn't look the Rockets are enough of a "team" to make the playoffs this year. I think we all need to re-calibrate our expectations and try to enjoy the second half of the season or risk going crazy with frustration. The team certainly has the talent to become a monster in the future and hopefully, some major changes will be made in the off-season to bring us closer to becoming a true contender. In the meantime, expect the rest of the season to be a roller coaster ride.

    our approach should now be...

how well yao ming and steve francis does... period

forget wins and losses... coz there's no way we can make the play-offs..

well.. we still can.. but it's better to have lower expectations
    =)

Who were we going to put in for him, Moochie? Shooting guard is the Rockets shallowest position.

The best option for the last play IMO should be the PnR, with Yao set the pick and Steve drove the lane. Oh well
    it is too late.

    Assists, assists, assists...

    Assists, assists, assists...

Jazz finished with 35 to our Rockets 19. Until we play team ball, we deserve every one of these losses.

I know discussing this has been like beating a dead horse as of late, but I don't think it's going away anytime soon.

We even got out rebounded too. It's a mystery how the game went to overtime in the first place.

What about Posey. Yes, he is having a bad game too but he only had 17 minutes. Or maybe Hawkins. I do not care. Anybody but Mobley. 45 minutes? What the hell is Rudy thinking? That's why having a 7 or 8 man rotation is a problem.

This is the most frustrating defeat of the season for me.A utter collapse 3.5 sec to go and Rudy let the Jazz have a shot to tie it instead of fouling and obviously the more experienced team had an upper hand there onwards. Rudy hardly ever tells the guys to foul when the game is close to the end. He didn't do it on so many occasions eg against the Magic when Penny hit a runner some years ago,and when Mario Elie won a game for the Spurs with a buzzer beater against us.In those days at least we had an excuse that Hakeem would probably find a way to score in the end but this is a very inexperienced team that can't afford to make any mistakes.
However it's wrong to blame Rudy entirely for the collapse the players just couldn't stop anyone down the stretch and neither could they find a way to score.
The players are going to be demoralized for the return game tomorrow. I don't think we have any chance of making it to the playoffs right now.

I just wish that the rox miss the playoffs and miss it so bad. Maybe then Les will finally wake up and fire Rudy T. Sounds bad but for the sake of the team's future, this has to happen.

no, there is NO chance to make the playoffs right now. there's still 30-something more games to play. as frustrating as this game is, and as sadly predictable as it became toward the end, this doesn't mean the rockets aren't going to be among the 8 western conference teams in the playoffs.

some positives -- the rockets went to yao regularly in the first half. t-mo showed he can sink shots on a regular basis whereas griffin and perhaps even posey cannot.

some negatives -- the rockets went away from going to yao. yao got fouled late on the play where kirilenko elbowed malone on the nose (it was almost worth the non-call to have that happen to karl). rudy made some questionable coaching decisions relying on mobley, but the other options weren't that spectacular.

my question is how many more of these games have to go down like this before the rockets learn from their repeated mistakes?

oh well, at least the suns lost (with amare stoudemire getting schooled by elton brand).
