    Moochie has proven tonight: Minutes=Stats

I believe Moochie Norris has done a great job at filling in for Steve tonight. Just look at the boxscore I have below. Yeah, its the sorry defensive-Grizzlies. And yeah, its against Jason Williams/Earl Watkins who suck at defending other point guards. Moochie is in a bad situation. Coming off the bench to start the 2nd quater, and playing for 5-6 minutes before being taken out, makes it hard to get in a good rhythm. Even though he has shot 2 airballs tonight, he has made great plays when he has the ball in his hands and he has done great on defense. In 40 minutes, he had 5 rebounds, 9 points, and 9 assists. Nice game Mooch! Keep it up!

Wow! A home win against a sub-500 team! When did that happen last time? Can anyone even remember?

I don't remember the last time we won a game w/out Francis starting, much less a .500 team.

Nevertheless, Mobley is the problem. Not his game, but his temper tantrum that he's going to have...

...when we move him to the bench, and Steve to the 2 spot.

    :D

It's good to see us beating the teams we ought to beat. Who knows? Maybe with the next few games against weaker Eastern teams, we can string together a 3 game W streak. One good sigh: it's nice to see that we're not playing "down" to the level of weaker opponents.

After the Game Mobley was interviewed. He sees the future where Yao Ming And Griffin are better defensive players and PASSING THE BALL OUT TO THE GUARDS, That means he still does not get it that the future is Yao Ming ,not the Guards.

Yep. They did have a spell there for a moment...

For example, late in the 3rd, I started to see the Rockets let up a bit...
They actually thought, "We have this game won" at the end of the 3rd period. You could see it.

It bit them in the 4th. But luckily they woke up.

Well, if Yao is still in the game when Mobley comes off the bench, then he's right.:D

I liked the way Cat played today with Steve out. Moochie played great too, although he threw up a couple of airballs. The 26 team assists without Steve was very impressive.

Why can't this be interpreted as having an inside-out game? This is what the Rox had with Dream.

And your convinced that Yao and Eddie are satisfactory defenders when they give up 24 to Lo Wright[b/]?

How about keeping an open mind.

EG's gotta get smarter. Rudy T. needs to put a firm quota on the number of 3's he can take in a game. FORCE him to either pass the ball to the low post, or drive when he has an open path.

As it is, watching him throw up flat 3-pter after flat 3-pter is just.. blech.

    DavidS,

To this day, I am still miffed at how flat the Rox come out during the the 3rd (Q). Any ideas as to why this is the case? Complacency???

Eddit is not a great defence player one by one.
    look at Gasol 's Sta.
    rudy made right decision.

Mooch played pretty well, IMO. I want to say that he had a perfect nite w/o respect to handling the ball. Meanwhile, I like how controlled he was in orchestrating the offense. Trey Cool.

On a different matter, why is EG taking so many shots? It's been a long time since I can recall an efficent and productive night from EG. IMHO, I think the ball ought to be in his hands less for shots and more in the hands of MoT or Cat or Yao. We always benefit from EG's rebounding, but his shot selection and accuracy is just killer

Nothing impressive. 26 team assists can only happen under this situation.

    Believe me, it's significant.

It's a credit to Mooch who's a damn good ball distributor but probably, for reasons of size, is more limited as a scorer. Don't discount it. Anytime we get a 20+ assist night from the Rox, they are doing somethign RIGHT. Moreover, did u notice the better productivity we saw out of Cat tonite? Coincidence??? Or rather a happy recipient of great passing?

Good habits start with little steps
Beating up on sub-500 teams is a great way to go.

The only negative I saw in tonite's game was Lo Wright's big day. He seemed to have his way inside, tonite. EG, Yao, fatigued??? I hope so.

Great game, but lets not disregard Steve because of one win. We played Memphis, a team that will be lucky to make it out of the lottery for the next couple of years. If we played a playoff team, we would have probably seen a totaly different game.

Yes we played well, but in the long run it would be best to have Steve playing the PG postion, rather than Moochie. We need his leadership and "big plays" to beat some of the harder teams out there.

Anyways, I really liked seeing Tito out there running the offense. He has an amazing talent when it comes to distributing the ball, and he is that pass first, defensive PG that we would love to have back up Stevie.

All in all, just a great game.

first, can anyone remember a team that played D as bad as memphis did tonight?? the first half was just one continuous trip right to the basket by the guards, mostly mobley. no one ever seemed to help out.

two, moochie played well, in control, nice assists. the two airballs were hilarious. wide open and back to back.

who cares about the 4th. that was the easiest 10 point quarter i've ever seen. coincidentally, i don't think cuttino took a shot in the 4th and we scored 10. hmm, stupid cuttino and wanting to shoot sometimes.

we killed them early, killed them late, and cruised to the finish. great game.
