Thursday would be the best possible day for me too! This will be cool! I better not transfer to Austin too soon! B
Dude I am in big time! The basketball court has been calling me eversince the rockets got back in the gym. I have a feeling this could lead to great things for bbs members and hardcore rockets fans. There could be a special sticky thread where we can talk about the games, who did what or who played dirty etc.
This particular park/gym (Love Park) is very close to the Shepherd & 11th instersection about 1/4 mile from I-10. It is REALLY easy to find. I'm not sure what days are available. They do have leagues there and things like that but I'll find out tomorrow. Hell, they even have a scoreboard!
cool, i live like 5 minutes from shepherd and 11th so i'll play just about anytime. i still have some slow-down from a sprained ankle but it doesn't affect my jumpshot.
How is the rims on this place? Will the ball bounce hard on it? I also want to know how the lighting of the place is. I play ball in the daytime at that West Gray Location, and when ever I face the windows, the light shines through, and I always miss, (not necessarily because of the lights.) I am still in.
I wish I could move back to Houston from NY. That sounds like a great deal. There is nothing I would love more than to play a regular game with CC netters. Anyway have fun. Maybe you guys can get a few teams and name them. Then post the rosters of each team here on the hangout, and I can follow your wins and losses and wish I was there even more.
See my first post in this thread... I'm short, white and out of shape. I don't have to make excuses on the court, god made them for me.
Man if I was there, I could play on the opposite team of voodoo, and we'd have one hell of a good match up.
I am interested. Rockets don't usually play on Monday or Wednesday, maybe one of these days will work.
I like to think of myself as almost average height. I'm in OK shape, though my stamina has really gone downhill lately, and I usually can hit the rim, so I don't shoot that many airballs. I play hard, and hussle, I try and do the little things, and sometimes blow some easy layups. One thing I hate, and never do is stand around arguing about being fouled or who the ball went out on. I hate it when games stop so people can argue whether there was a foul or not, or who touched it last. Did I mention how much I wish I could be in Houston to play with y'all?
What does "white" have to do with it? I hear that all the time and don't get the relevance. Don't think I'm trolling, because that's where it all begins.
Not to start a fire, but to honestly interpret what I think it means.... I think when a pick-up basketball player says "white" they mean that they lack athleticism.
Jeff, What's the latest on this? Are Thursdays open? AB, I was just trying to be as derogatory as possible about my basketball skills and by current terms that is what I thought of. I'm only politically correct when it comes to other people, I throw it out the window when it comes to myself. B
