Hey Cat, I see others in this thread discussing trades. Is that still allowed. I think a lot of the discussions go on before the draft just most deals are not finalized until draft day. Before I get into who i would trade etc. i just wanted to make sure this was ok. CK
I think that trades should be allowed to be discussed before hand. That way if work were to become involved a deal could be struck before hand. I also firmly believe that there NEEDS to be an arbitor who isnt involved in the draft. Someone who can nix a Glenn Rice for the number two pick. Someone who can keep it honest. Now with that said, Id love to talk with the Bulls GM and eventually the Rox GM about swapping picks and players. If neither willing to deal, Im would love to talk the the Clipps GM.
Just a newbie... But id still love to join in on this lkeauge if at all possible... I would like to have San Antonio or if there not open, Ill take any team that is avalible..
I have an idea . When any trade is discussed and before it is accepted, Cat or someone independently (like Ken Starr) would have to go to realgm trade checker and make sure it is possible. Just a thought.
Pacers GM here Suns GM, are you serious about trading Marion? If so, what kind of package are you looking for?
OK, here's what we're going to do. On the suggestion of htownhero, trades cannot be made official until after the playoffs end. You can talk trades until then, and agree to wink-wink deals (you can post them ), but it won't be official until we make a transactions thread after the playoffs end. So, you could theoretically back out of a wink-wink type trade, but it's not a very honorable move, so try not to. We can talk trades now, though. Also... Castor gets the Rockets. Nomar takes the Hornets. HoopsAve takes the Spurs. SFrancis3 takes the Fakers. If anyone else wants in, you can take over a team like Dallas or Minnesota that doesn't have a first round pick. It would somewhat limit the fun, but you can always trade for a first rounder if you want to participate in the actual draft.
Oh, and I'm offering Gasol in a trade. I could use some depth, but not at the price of not getting a good player down low. I forgot who has Portland, but if you're interested in Gasol, let me know. I love Rasheed Wallace, and I know you have some spare parts sitting on your bench that I could really use... P.S. As for the arbitrator, I think we should do determine things like that by a league-wide vote. If a trade appears to be blatantly unfair for one team, I will call on all GM's to vote on it. If a 2/3 majority finds it to be very much unfair, it will be overturned, unless the "losing" team can explain their reasoning to me.
Castor27, Would you be interested in trading me your two first round picks and some of your bloated salerys for Vince Carter and Keon Clark? We can even make a deal for Dream if you want him to retire as a Rocket. This trade solves your problem at SF and C. This is assuming that you get to represent the Rockets and the 1st and 15th picks in the drafts. Just imagine a line up that includes: Steve Francis Cat Vince Carter Eddie Griffin Keon Clark That line up gives me goose bumps!
That is an interesting offer and one that I would consider pending the working out of the details. I am willing to package the Rockets 2 first round picks for SF, C help or a combo with extra picks and players. I will also probably be in and out (I am starting an extra job next week) so if I do not reply to offers here feel free to e-mail me thru the BBS, if that sort of thing is ok with Cat. BTW, one question for you Cat. Are we playing this like a sim league where I could make offers the Rockets never would make(ala some of the far fetched trades made in the sim forum) or are we trying to stay close to what we think teams will actually do. Like the Clips packaging Odom and picks to move up?
Castor: emailing is fine. There's really no restrictions on what you can do, except that trades have to work within the cap. I want to give everyone total control of a team, so you don't have to do only what the real Rockets would consider.
Blah...scratch that post... I'm looking for big men...Centers and Power Forwards.... My roster includes Shawn Marion, Penny, Marbury, Joe Johnson...i guess those would be the most desired players...i got the #9 and #22 picks in the draft... The Cat, if u want anybody of my roster...I'm very interested in Gasol...
Hey Cat, how does Mike Miller + #18 sound for either Gasol or #4? For Gasol, you'd be getting a good perimeter shooter plus (likely) one of the better big men (Ely, Hailslip, etc) in the draft. For that 4th pick, you'd still be getting those things all while keeping Gasol - less risk in taking a high big man and busting. Let me know. And to all: I'm open to any offers for the Magic here, including moving up, down, or out of the draft. Preferably looking for big man help. Drop me a line here or email me - j1ace2n@yahoo.com. Thanks.
Cat would you be interested in Vince and either Clark or one of our other big men for Gasol and your #4 pick?
I would trade for Gasol. I would consider trading Webber. Just drop me a line at zitoposada@hotmail.com That goes for anyone with an offer, too.
Castor27, I can not make any combination of player work for Vince and Keon. If you can come up with some combinations that work and allow you to get Vince and Keon or any of our big men let me know.
mfclark: I like Miller, but not enough to give up Gasol or the 4, even with the pick. NYK: I'm still not a huge Webber fan... let me check out a couple of other players first. crash: I don't want to give up my 4 pick without getting another lottery pick in return. Would you be interested in Michael Dickerson? I know you could use another perimeter player, and that you have a lot of big men. Would a Dickerson for Clark swap interest you? The salaries would work.
