From all I've been reading Carmelo Anthony wants the $65 million. He'd greatly prefer the Knicks, but I'll not be surprised if he signs with the Nets if the Knicks don't pony up.

Did I miss him saying that he would not sign an extension to Houston? I read that Denver did not want to deal him to a west team but honestly if we included kmart bud Brooks hill and 2 or 3 first rounders... That deal is better than those other teams offers and the nuggets would be ignorant not to deal him to us. If we received Anthony billups and those other scrubs:

    Billups/Lowry
    Lee/twill
    Melo/ battier
    Axils/pdpatt
    Hayes/ miller

I like the idea of lee starting... I mean he started for a team that was in the finals. He is a 2 way player that could help us become a better defensive team

Yeah I read that to; Anthony's priority number one seems to be the extension, I don't understand why Denver doesn't just keep him and force his hand to sign the extension..

Personally I think the Nuggets best choice is to keep him, and try to make a deep playoff run this year..

Less than 4 days away from the deadline and no activity yet by any teams in the league so far... can't wait till it gets heated up.

Rarely will you see any big names especially all stars get traded before the all star game because they don't wanna screw up the east/west lineup if a player changes conferences. I just wish they would ship Melo to the moon so we can get this show on the road.

This should all get started tomorrow if I had to guess. This should be one of the busiest trade deadlines for the Rockets in a while. I see us making at least a couple big moves and it all hinges on Melo which is frustrating.

Agreed, I think the melo deal will go to the wire and cause the rest of the league to sit by and miss out. I don't see the rockets doing much.

While I mostly agree with you, I think many teams have "contingency trades" tentatively lined up for the deadline. There should be several trades--not a ton--that get done. Still, unfortunately, I am pessimistic about a franchise-altering trade going down for the Rockets.

I don't think Melo is going to inhibit any trades from getting done.

If a team REALLY wants a deal done then its going to get done.

And I think the Melo drama is going to be concluded tomorrow or Tuesday. It won't go to the wire.

its funny you say that. Alot of Knicks fans say the same thing. They feel from what some have told me confidently that Carmelo is gonna be in a Knicks uniform by Tuesday. I feel that sounds about right too. Unless........ New Jersey cant get any deals done for Carmelo and pulll the rug from underneath Denver. Then Carmelo does not get traded. Denver gets nothing. Free agency is when Carmelo gets moved to the Knicks. Few deals get done otherwise perhaps waiting to the last second waiting for other dominoes to fall. I do think under this scenario Rockets do a minor deal or two and we are talking about someone like Asik or some other young big in a few days and thats about it but its still a little exciting and decent. Just not what some are gonna want fully and be a little bit miffed maybe because we didnt do more?

    That sounds about right now.

Sorry. I meant to say Knicks pull rug from underneath Denver when they realize New Jersey isnt even a threat to get Carmelo, because he wont sign anywhere else, and the deadline is so close where they can just wait Denver out.

Getting Asik would not be a minor deal.

Would it be a very minor deal?

With good reason.. there is only one franchise-altering player available and the Rockets are not one of the two teams involved.

    Christmas is Thursday. Fingers crossed.

This week is going to be very interesting. Not too long ago I thought Scola and Martin would be the two players that would definitely stay no matter what, even with Morey saying everyone was available. I didn't think it was true. I have a feeling one or both of those players gets traded.
Yeah they're a huge part of this team but honestly, without a legitimate center and franchise player this team is just mediocre and would continue on that path for many years to come. I'd rather bank on youth then stay mediocre.
