Why would you want an oft injured player with a bad contract? Talented yes
but the last thing we need is another injured star. If this whole thing is true I think its leading to another deal

If you like Tyreke Evans then your gotta see this video:

Here's another highlight video of him at Memphis:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZDAT8yMr2b4&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZDAT8yMr2b4&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Some people are even debating if Evans could be better than Rose. He could be our guy I hope. :D

So are the Rockets after a specific player out of the 4-5 PGs expected to go lottery or do they want any one of those 4-5 PGs?

If Jennings had a solid jumper to go along with his court vision,I would choose him. He does look to make the basic pass more often now but needs more experience.
Flynn is explosive and an upgrade over Brooks as a passer, but I don't think he can he run the pick and roll with Yao. Holiday has size but he has been a disappointment. His jumper is shaky and playing with Collison hasn't helped him.
Curry is a great shooter but not a very good passer,he is a bit slow and weak on defense.
Rubio will be out of reach, which may not be such as a bad thing.
It will take some time for Evans to make a transition at the 1,he needs to improve his jumper too even if he wants to play at the 2 spot.

If I'm not wrong, wasn't there someone we drafted last year who said he compares his game to Tracy. Wonder what happen to him...

Everyone wants to be silky smooth like TMac. Score 20 a night without even trying.

Most of them fail horribly and end up as chuckers.

I think coach could care less with "fancy" passes. To say AB is not competitive is just not true, did you see the game he had against D. Williams
last year? He is young and has had less than half a season. He was huge in several wins in both rounds of the playoffs. I agree he has been late with passes and needs to work on the entry pass. He will get better. He works hard. The only way I do a deal with AB is if it involves someone like CP3

I am not so sure any of these PG's are upgrades for Brooks.

I would like a PG that is going to have more assists than turnovers.

That being said I dont want to give up Brooks either. I want to see him in a Jason Terry role.

That's why they might be eyeing Tyreke Evans. He can play the point or the 2 guard. He would be nice to have if Wafer leaves town or even Artest...

I don't think Brooks can get us into a high or mid lottery position by himself. GM's see his weaknesses too. At the most, he could get someone between 14-18 and that's stretching it. Landry plus Brooks can get us into this relatively weak but interesting lottery I think, but that's not worth it in my opinion.

I considered Evans a 2 guard but if the teams possibly sees him as a PG too, then he's the best "PG" and choice for the team.

I think the top target has to be Ricky Rubio.

As much potential as Ricky Rubio is supposed to have, teams (especially those in the top 10 with the exception of NY) have to be somewhat hesitant about having to pay the $6 Mill buyout on top of his lottery rookie contract. Big point guards with natural talent like Ricky Rubio don't come around very often, fortunately for Rockets, there is a clear opportunity to take advantage of economic conditions.

Think of it as a poker tournament. When you've got the big stack, you'll probably place a large bet on a hand like Ace-Nine for a huge payout and the chance to knock out other players. Alternatively, when you've got the small stack, you probably shouldn't place a bet on that Ace-Nine and focus on surviving with the hope of cutting losses.

Ricky Rubio is an Ace-Six in a high blind poker game. Prospective teams must pay at least $8 Mill before they can even see the flop and many teams aren't willing to pay this cost and wait around for Rubio to turn into a winning hand. Now if Rubio were an NBA ready player like James Harden, teams would be more willing to pay the premium because an immediate payout is likely.

Given the above, I think Sacramento is on the horn trying to package their pick with Nocioni, Kenny Thomas or Udrih's contracts but I don't think NBA execs truly believe that Sacramento is ready and willing to pay up for Rubio. The same situation is true for Washington, they already have huge financial commitments (read Gilbert Arenas) and a stable packed full of guards (e.g. Nick Young, Javaris Crittenton, Mike James, DeShawn Stevenson, etc). Taking on Rubio would be financial suicide for these markets.

At the end of the day, I think Sacramento will settle on Jonny Flynn while Washington will have to choose between DeMar DeRozan or BJ Mullens.

So who is the potential trading partner? New York recently made a deal to bring Point Guard Sergio Rodriguez to New York... a favorite of D'Antoni's. There are also rumors that New York is hoping to sign and trade David Lee because it is clearly their intention to sign Bosh or Amare in 2010 and it would make little sense to tie money up in David Lee. Players like David Lee and Ricky Rubio would do well in Houston (look at Rubio's situational stats on Draftexpress, his strengths tie in very well to Houston's system).

We could send New York a package built around Ron Artest and Carl Landry. If there was one other team that Ron Artest would gladly play for, it would probably be New York. I don't anticipate Artest rejecting such a sign-and-trade and Carl Landry would fill in nicely for David Lee until a more permanent and potent solution like Bosh is acquired.

I envision something like Ron Artest, Carl Landry and Brian Cook for David Lee, Quentin Richardson and New York's pick. Remember the MLE is still left to fill in the blanks where needed (Josh Childress).

PG: Aaron Brooks | Kyle Lowry | Ricky Rubio
SG: Tracy McGrady | Quentin Richardson
SF: Shane Battier | Quentin Richardson | Brent Barry
PF: Luis Scola | David Lee
CN: Yao Ming | David Lee | Chuck Hayes | Joey Dorsey

My question is WHY are we seeking a point guard, when we already have two young emerging stars (at the VERY least, one) & we have absolutely NOBODY that can stop the top notch western PF's like Aldridge, Gasol etc. on a continuous basis?

Unless there is also plans to aquire a LEGIT power forward, & a solid back-up center to step in for achey breaky Yao every year ... going balls deep for an unproven point guard is not a solid move, IMO.

His size, court vision, length and smarts intrigue me,but he is turnover prone and needs to improve his jumper. I see him going in the top 6 which will probably put him out of DM's reach anyway.

After skimming the pages of replies, I agree with this post the most or a deal similar to it. Most here are drooling/hoping for a pg tandem of player of your choice/who's left from after either a AB/Lowry is traded. Just this past draft demonstrated how we actually still are in a win now mode (to get Yao to re-sign) by turning Batum into a Artest. I questioned the pick, asking how does that help now, which is why it may not be CP3 (NOLA/Byron Scott kept saying he's not leaving, throwing Peja's contract could make it happen) but this pick is going to land a proven talented not a project making Yao think we're not trying to win. With Morey, he was forced into the Rafer/Lowry trade because of T-Mac needing surgery this meant we needed scoring in the lineup shipping Rafer out plus if you've listen to comments made by him and RA, you'll see that RA has said multiple times he liked Rafer while Morey has proclaimed the trade as an upgrade which it is.

I highly doubt we keep the lottery pick if we get it. I'm more interested and looking forward to who that pick will eventually yield. (Batum drafted on June 28, 2008; Artest dealt to be in Rocket Red on July 29, 2008).
