The 1995 NBA Finals were on NBC. I didn't mean to say the Union didn't have TV's. HayesStreet, how many U of H students actually want to go to school there? I know many a Cougar student who hate U of H and would rather be at UT but for whatever reasons attend U of H. I don't wanna knock the education at U of H. UT is a USN&WR first tier school along with Rice and Texas A&M. U of H is a third or fourth tier school. I didn't like the atmosphere at U of H during the summer. No denying U of H is a commuter school. It seemed like work. Everyone arrives at 8 AM and goes home at 5 PM. No one wants to chill on or around campus. There isn't really much to do at U of H at night, and the neighborhood isn't exactly safe. The dorms aren't pretty and U of H athletics suck now. U of H is a decent school. It's definitely an option Houston high school students should take a look at. I wouldn't say its well respected with the Cougar High comments everyone makes, but it is a well run. I'll give you that. I went there during the summer. Very nice school...during the day.
I believe they were remodeling and it was also between semesters so it might have been closed. They brought in a tiny 19 in and had it sitting just above the counter in the union underground. The point wasn't that Union had cable, but that the Union is interested in making money. If they think having the rockets games on TV will bring in customers, they might consider it.
If you want to say "I looked at the total package: academics, environment, campus life, sports teams, and I thought UT was a hands down choice over UH,' I wouldn't argue with you. If you say "I had to go to Austin because I couldn't get an education in Houston," I have to disagree with you, and to call it Cougar High is an insult that shows what caliber of student UT allows into its ranks. As most of us know, the measure of a person is what they do with their education, not the name of the institution that gives them a piece of paper. And I'll remind you that UT does not exactly have high standards for admissions.
