    Are you a schmuck chuck?!?!?!?!

I lived in Houston for 14 years and will forever be a Rocket fan. Just because I live in Austin doesnt make me a "admirer". Thats a load of crap and you know it! Hell Id bet that I probably go to more games than you.

Hey, did you think about the students that are trying to get an education at Austin? That's why they can't come to Houston.

Listen CHUCK TAYLOR, I don't know you, but I'm willing to show you how dedicated I am as a Rocket's fan. Here's my resume pal:

1.Have 'Akeem' the Dream's and Calvin Murphy's autograph on ticket stub. I got this before the game against the Clippers. This was the year Dream got taken out by Bill Cartright, so he was dressed in a suit, and no one cared about Calvin Murphy then.

    2. Have Houston Chronicle's front page from the 1st championship laminated.

    3. Went to BOTH Championship parades at the Astrodome.

    4. Been to a Rockets game every year, even 'driving' to San Antonio to see them play the Spurs in the crappy Alamodome.

    5. Was at Rockets COURT SIDE seats against Portland last year booing Scottie Pippen.

    6. Went to Hakeem's Last game. I haven't sold the Bobble Head doll. I DROVE to Houston, watched the game, and drove back to Austin the same night.

    7. You CANT TOP THIS. I have VERNON MAXWELL MAGNETS on my Fridge.

I'm going to some games this year too. I've been a Houstonian for a long ass time, now I'm an Austinite. Doesn't make me less of a Rockets fan. If you think you're a better fan, then keep 'Dreaming'.

Hey the UT Rocket fans should ask the Union to show the Rockets games since there are so many of us here...

Just a thought, let me know if anyone else is interested.

What is this crap? UH is a good school and has several superior academic programs. And I would also point out Rice, but I think most of the UT students would not be able to get in. And UH's basketball tradition is much deeper than UT's, thank you very much. :D

No disrespect to the H-town students, but that one dude claiming that you're not a real fan if you don't live in Houston is bull.

Hey if you are so hard core pal, then why don't you move your mobile home to the Compaq Center Parking lot?

Then, I'll say you win. You're REAL!

1st off im a ut student and yeah id def be interested if the texas union would show games

2nd- rices admissions standards are hard as heck, and comparing u of h to ut is like comparing a mitsubish galante to a ferrari-case in point, u of h is having a lot of problems attracting students to the point that they offer scholarships in ways that seem to be the only way they can compete-im not bashing u of h-my mom went there but even she admits its fallen a lot since she went to school

The Union would never show Rockets games because 1) I don't think they have a dish, 2) I don't think they have digital cable, and 3) If they show the Rockets then fans of other teams will wanna watch games there too.

The answer to all your problems is to give Time Warner a call and order NBA League Pass. When you consider the number of games (up to 40 a week) you receive, its not really that expensive. Plus you can pay it in installments. Just consider it part of your entertainment budget.

I really wanted to test out the sports packages. It seems that NFL Sunday Ticket is not on digital cable. That sucks.

Anyone know how to order ESPN Gameplan a la carte? I tried to buy a game over the weekend, I tuned into the channel, and it said $59. Hell no!

It figures that students at UT can't read a full paragraph without losing their concentration. The original comment was that you couldn't get an education in Houston, and had to go to Austin. UH is a well run and well respected state university. Some of their programs are better than UT's (although I admit most are not). Rice (which is also in Houston) is much more well respected than UT. So it is false to say you have to go to Austin to get an education. Period.

    :p

The Union Underground during my freshmen orientation made special arrangements to show game three of the 1995 finals because numerous requests were made....including mine. I ended up hanging out with some guys from orlando.....They hated Mario Elie and his floaters in the lane.

If you can prove students will come to the union to watch games, they will listen. I don't know if they'll do it, but they'll listen.

you can get an education in houston but opportunities are scarce

    let me explain

rice-i went to katy taylor high school-we continually win the state academic decathlon and finish 1st or 2nd in the nation, for example last yr my graduating class the valedictorian had a 4.71 gpa out of 5 pt scale, i finished 30th out of 810 with a 4.39, so its extremely tough academically, however i know of numerous cases where kids with great gpas/extracurricular activities go through the waiting list process at rice, only to receive a rejection letter:(

u of h- im sorry but the school has fallen way off since he days when my parents went to school like 20 or so yrs ago, they tried to whoo me over with a $3,000 scholarship and no way their academic programs rival ut, maybe in a very few areas

I mean ill admit, im a sports nut so factoring in the UT athletic program with an excellent university made my decision easy, as did the fact i qualified for the top 10% rule

However, it doesnt change the fact that one school in houston isnt up to par and the other is too demanding of many top scholars. Thus with austin in close proxity, the great nightlife and school activities available to you and outstanding education, i can see the point being made of going to austin from houston for an education

I'm going to break in my basketball comments to comment on this terrorist stuff. I think the US should make an amendment specifically against terrorism so we can go kill Osama Bin Laden. Apparently he is behind this and that he can be interviewed on CNN and we can't kill him? I expect something major is going to happen in the US retaliation. Hope these fanatics get it good.
