    TRADE

Hours before the 2008 NBA Draft occurred the Houston Rockets decided to ship their 25th draft pick along with disgruntled SG Luther Head and next years 2nd round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for the 16th selection in the 2008 NBA Draft.

If I were the Rockets, I would select JaVale McGee with the 16th pick.

Let's see what happens next. I'm bursting in anticipation.

This would be better if you could reenact your script on youtube, preferably with life sized posters. You know, to capture the tension of your NBA 2K season.

Rockets make huge steal in draft!

As soon as the 2008 NBA Draft kicked off, people could tell that it was going to be unpredictable as the Memphis Grizzlies selected Richard Hendrix with the first pick in the NBA draft.

Katz: We are now back with ESPN's exclusive coverage of the NBA Draft. I am here with NBA Analysts Stephen A. Smith and Bill Walton along with College Basketball and Draft Analyst Jay Bilas. Guys, after seeing Orlando just select talented freshman phenom Derrick Rose out of Memphis with the 15th pick, who do you think the Rockets pick with the 16th pick?

Bill Walton Well talented freshman Michael Beasley from Kansas State is surprisingly still on the board so the Rockets would be crazy to pass him up, he is an absolute steal at # 16!

Jay Bilas: I agree with Bill Walton on this one, Michael Beasley is one of the most, if not complete players in the draft, it surprises me that he has dropped this far.

Stephen A. Smith: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 15th other teams should be kicking themselves in the end right now for letting Michael Beasley go. He should have gone number 1 in my opinion!

Katz: Well we are about to find out, here comes commissioner David Stern with the Rockets selection right now.

Stern: With the 16th pick of the 2008 NBA Draft,
the Houston Rockets select Michael Beasley, Forward out of Kansas State University.

Walton: An absolute steal for the Houston Rockets. This kid has it all. He can shoot, drive the lane, draw fouls. and finish at the rim.

Stephen A.: I'm speechless right now on how this kid fell this far.

Katz: We bring in our very own Dick Vitale to get his thoughts on the freshman from Kansas St now Houston Rocket. Dick, take it away.

Dickie V.: What an absolute steal for the Houston Rockets. Michael Beasley is by far the most talented player in the draft. He is simply super sentilating(sp.) sensational, Baby! Awesome baby with a capital A. Beasley has all of the tools to be a PTPer in the NBA. Houston, you just got your team a stud to go along with Yao and McGrady, do not let it go to waste.

Katz: Thank you, Dick. Well the New Jersey Nets are now on the clock with the 17th pick in the draft. We will be back shortly.

    ESPN BREAKING NEWS

Neil Everett: I am Neil Everett and we interrupt the scheduled program to report word of a blockbuster NBA trade involving the Atlanta Hawks and the Houston Rockets. We have our very own Ric Bucher standing by. Ric, what's the deal?

Bucher: Yes, Blockbuster is right. We have all heard the reports about the Houston Rockets looking to find a 3rd scoring option to Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming in the off-season and they might be very close to be able to acquire one. Reports out of Houston are saying that the Rockets are very close to working out a sign and trade deal with the Atlanta Hawks in order to acquire high-flying small forward Josh Smith who might very well be that 3rd scoring option. The Rockets are working out a package of players to send to the Hawks for Smith. Names being thrown around are Bobby Jackson,Shane Battier,Rafer Alston, Aaron Brooks, and Carl Landry.

Everett: So Ric, how close is the deal to being done.

Bucher: This deal is almost finished. Unless a sudden obstacle occurs, expect Josh Smith to be a Houston Rocket by the end of the day.

Everett: What exciting news for Houston Rockets fans, ESPN will have you covered if we receive any more updates on this trade. Now back to Pardon the Interruption with Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon.

    BREAKING NEWS

Stuart Scott:Whats up yall, I'm Stuart Scott. We reported earlier on a sign and trade deal that would send Josh Smith to Houston. We have just learned that the deal has been completed and is now awaiting league approval. We go to our very own Ric Bucher for the details.

Bucher: Yes the deal is in fact done. Here is the breakdown of the deal.

    Josh Smith (OVR 84), $9.17M + Kyle Weaver (OVR 69), $470K
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    FOR
    Shane Battier, (OVR 83), $6.17M + Bobby Jackson (RTG 79), $5.95M
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Stuart Scott: Wow what a shake up in the Western Conference. So Ric why does Atlanta make this deal?

Bucher: The Hawks made this deal because it rids them of a player who is all though very talented but has shown signs of not being able to lead his teammates and also a bad attitude. Atlanta gets in return a very versatile defender in Shane Battier who can guard the opposing teams best player night in and night out and who is also a very good 3-point shooter. They also add a veteran guard in Bobby Jackson who will back up Joe Johnson and who will also serve as a mentor to the youth that the Hawks have.

Stuart Scott: Alright and why does Houston make this deal?

Bucher: Houston makes this deal because they were able to acquire a potential third go-to guy without giving up the future of the franchise in Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry. Josh Smith will be able to finish at the rim in which Houston struggled with at sometimes last season. Smith is also a great perimeter defender and shot-blocker and he will add to Houston's already suffocating defense.

Stuart Scott: Thank you for that Ric. Things are certainly looking good in H-Town. I am Stuart Scott. Sportscenter is on all the time at ESPN.com.

Rockets traded luther and a 2nd round for the 15th pick? And Beasley dropping to it????

    Get Josh Smith for trash????

OMG the off season epidemic of the ridiculous-trade-proposal-itis has officially infected the hangout!!!

Run for you lives before there are simulations of TMAC been lazy and selfish while Les refusing to pay any of the Rocket players more then $5.15 a hour.

    Just messing with you. ;)

Look at the lineup so far

    Alston / Brooks / Francis
Tmac / Courtney Lee / Weaver
    J.Smith / M. Beasely / Novak
    Scola / Landry
    Yao / Mutombo

We still need a reliable shooter at the pg spot and a backup center.

    Make it happen, tmac2therack.
