I live in North Richland Hills. I would love to get together for a few games. I have three young kids, so I need to plan ahead (so I can kiss up to the wife) or I need to bring them along. My boss (a Rockets fan) and I got tickets to the Rockets - Mavs game last year. Would you be up for that?
Change of plans on the draft. Checked the Yahoo! Live Draft times and there aren't any for the 19th or any other day. So it looks like we might have to do the draft here. No other way we can do this. I was afraid of that. We better get started. We need to pick at least 16 a day to get done by Oct 26. How about we start tomorrow w/ the draft? I'll draw out of a hat who goes where and we'll begin. We will give the person who is in slot to pick 15 minutes. If he doesn't pick by then, I will pick the highest pick according to Yahoo! Capiche? Damn, DFW....you're waaay up there! Must be a drive to come down to Dallas....
Wait... we need to firmly establish when we're starting the draft and everything... Some of us have work and school and things so if you invoke a 15 minute rule some of us might not be able to draft for legitimate reasons.
That's fine with me as long as you establish when the draft will be before the night is over. Also, I'm fine with using the Yahoo rankings as long as we don't go strictly by it because those ratings are pretty whack. Pretty ****ty compared to the yahoo nfl ones. I say we skip the crappy yahoo highly ranked players(Garrity, Derek Fisher, Horry, etc) until it gets to the highest ranked yahoo player worth a damn.
I have never used AIM, but it sounds like a good idea. If we draft in the thread, I like the 15 minute rule or some variation of it. However I do not think it should be 15 minutes from the previous persons actual draft, but each team gets a 15 minute slot. This way we could set up a schedule. Something like this. End time 12:15 Team 1 12:30 Team 2 12:45 Team 3 01:00 Team 4 01:15 Team 5 01:30 Team 6 01:45 Team 7 02:00 Team 8 02:15 Team 9 02:30 Team 10 02:45 Team 11 03:00 Team 12 We would know when our pick was to schedule around. We should be able to get through a couple of rounds a day. I would be willing to create the schedule if people like the idea.
Okay I think the draft times are a good idea but we need confirmation from everyone and the commish... and we need a draft order... And we need to start!
Well, Crisco, we would have to go by the Yahoo Rankings because the people who will be there for the draft, they have the obligation to choose who they like. It's not fair for the people to wait for someone when it's their time. Plus we don't have much time before the regular season starts. So if you're not around, and your time is up, you lose out. Sorry... DFW, it would be nice to do the 15 minute rule, but we might have to compromise on a time or a period of time that people will be available. hey, I doubt this will affect me as much as it would others, I can usually get access to a comp with prior notice except for day time mondays and wednesdays. I have no problem with picking yahoo ranked players that are overvalued that will actually be playing(Christie, Keon Clark, etc) but when it comes to picking guys that will be lucky to get on the court(fisher, garrity, Shawn Bradley, etc) I think we should skip that player and go to the next highest yahoo rated player that will actually be playing. Unless we are in later rounds where scrubs are being taken anyway. Because 1. We have no ability to set up a predraft list for this. 2. Since it is a slow draft, we actually have the ability to do this and make sure all the teams have a chance at being competitive(see Kam's team in the other league for the antithesis of this). But whatever, if we don't want to use a little common sense in assigning a yahoo ranked player to a team, that'll just make my squad all the stronger.
Your point is taken. I will try my best to put the highest playing Yahoo! player w/ the team that is not present for his pick. It's going to be hard w/ the time permitting, but if I make a mistake or something, all I can say is: You should of been there.... So Crisco is not available Mondays and Wednesdays daytime. Anyone else?
