I will get flamed but Green isn’t 6’6”. I’ve stood next to him and was taller than him. He is 6’4” in shoes and his frame isn’t very long or wide either. At this point not sure it matters… but his quickness, extreme athleticism and dexterity is what makes him special.

Nah, no chance to get flamed. Thanks for the clarification. Seems like that is always brought up

Salman came in making the case for Ben Simmons. Not convinced with his case.

Salman is a well informed dude, but i disagree on the Simmons take. Yea the contract is 'team-controlled', but we're all seeing how well 76ers is 'controlling' Simmons.

Salman is really sharp. I wouldn’t give up the Rockets 2022 #1 pick for Simmons but if the Rockets can get him for Gordon and Wood and a couple picks from NJ, I would do it.

The issue is the garbage minutes aren't really garbage minutes.

In the game against the Wolves for example, Edwards, Towns and Russell all played 33-34 minutes. Green sat on 26 minutes.

Wolves were still competing with their best lineup despite the blow out, and the Rockets threw in their white flag line up.

I would agree if the opposing team threw in their 3rd stringers, otherwise if the other team is still competing in a blowout, there is no reason to not have your key rookies still out there competing against them.

    I think some folks were questioning that Kobe wasn‘t even a real 6‘6. 6’4 3/4 w/o shoes?

Green on the other hand, extremely narrow shoulders, not a strong look.

Not an expert on this matter but you're tall.

    Great Space, great bookend.

Well done @BimaThug and @Clutch. I enjoyed it.

they talked about a Rubio trade and although he’s an expiring I really like the idea of a vet pure pg coming in and showing these guys the ropes. Jalen would benefit immensely having a competent pg playing next to him. Also just having a general out there with the starting unit that as of right now has no leadership.

I immediately get triggered when people say things like "Ben Simmons is a top 20 player in the NBA".

I assume they were also huge Westbrook fans before he was on the Rockets. There were a lot of those.

He also kept saying he doesn't think anyone in this draft could be better than Simmons. I'd take that bet.

You have to cherrypick a little too much to love Simmons.

I think his value immediately fell off when there were signs that he will never amount to be an even 33% of shooter or a shooter at all.

Philly probably held onto that hope for far longer.

If this becomes a regular thing, you will drag me kicking and screaming into the 2000s and force me to get the twitter account I should have fifteen years ago.

Like Dave said it’s pretty simple I don’t want a max player on my roster that can’t shoot.

I'm with Clutch on how insane it is to pay a guy max dollars and they can't shoot the ball. You pay the max for elite offensive players.

It’s like giving a DE QB money. The best defensive players in the league don’t get max deals on good teams.

Wow! That was actually awesome wasn’t it? I liked the impromptu nature of it with other Twitter guys that we know jumping in from time to time and them giving the mic to and sprinkling in a take or question from an unknown listener every now and then.

Meh. Will there be a player in this draft better than Ben Simmons? Probably, but will the Rockets end up drafting that player? Maybe.

Is Simmons a top 20 player? He is really hard to grade because he is a poor shooter and mediocre scorer, but he is one of the 3-4 best defenders in the league (maybe the best) and he is a very good rebounder and an elite playmaker. How do you value someone like that? Is Draymond Green a top 20 player?

I don’t think Simmons is too 20, but he is awesome at what his strengths are. I would take him back in a trade if the Rockets got to keep their pick this season and only had to give up a few Nets picks and Gordon and Wood. Simmons as the third best player on a team is legitimately elite.

He sure is a special player.

But is he really that good of a fit on a team that has these many holes? A player with the holes that the Rockets would be seriously needing to rely on in an All Star type of player.

I think you could argue pro and contra but in the end I think the Rockets are not going to take him, plus Morey would be a pain in the butt.

That said, the defensive part is interesting but I believe the Rockets need a defensive identity rather than a defensive player for it to happen.

    Defensive coaching for team defense.

Draymond is pretty content with being Draymond, Ben is not so comfortable in his skin, you can see he is still trying to shoot from time to time, score from time to time.

It depends on the composition of your team and salary. So in a vacuum I agree you don’t give a defensive guy 30 million. However if the Rockets have guys like Green, Shengun and let’s say for argument sake Jaden Ivey all on rookie deals and all scoring and shooting well… then you can spend 30 million on an elite defender that compliments your offensive players… also in fairness to Simmons, he isn’t just an elite defender, he is an elite passer and rebounder and a good shot blocker too… you just don’t want him taking shots at the end of playoff games… but theoretically that’s what guys like Green and Ivey are for.
