WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski The minimum amnesty bid on Chauncey Billups deal had to be $1.3M. Says one GM: "I'm told there were multiple bids." Clippers had highest.
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Clips had $3.5M in cap space, used it to post winning bid and now face task of getting Billups -- who had threatened retirement -- to report
This exactly like when they acquired Sam Cassell. Billups/Gordon/Butler/Griffin/Jordan Looking like the Clippers gonna make the playoffs. how u.
johnhollinger John Hollinger So although it has yet to be announced, it appears almost certain that the Clips amnestied Mo Williams.
johnhollinger John Hollinger Am now hearing exact opposite, that Clippers were still only charged QO on salary cap for Jordan and thus could bid freely for Billups.
Barring some injury, they'll make the playoffs for sure. He's their Sam Cassell now. Question is, who do they replace?
That was before they were going to sign Chandler, I think the whole idea was to have him play PG for a season, they sign CP3 instead of him
PG: Billups/Bledsoe SG: Gordon/who cares SF: Butler/FAROQ AMINU (said in loud voice) PF: Beast Griffin/who cares C: Kaman/DeAndre Second round at least...
johnhollinger John Hollinger It's possible Houston put in a low-ball bid for Chauncey before executing Gasol offer sheet. @FlyerGrizBlog says Griz still havent heard boo
Good. I'm glad teams put in bids on him. I'm sick of players and agents trying to bully their way past the rules set in place.
If he doesn't play, they can not pay him. If he messes up his play, they can still not pay him by arguing he wasn't performing his end in good faith. Idk why most teams don't do this.
ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix Can't imagine if the Clippers do close trade for @CP3 that Chauncey Billups will want to be there.
