Tough loss for Memphis. The inferior team won again. It's doubtful, but I still believe the Grizzlies have a chance to win 3 in-a-row. They have the ability to impose their will on the Clippers but just haven't done so for several reasons.
Are you actually serious? 1 playoff round and your saying he is better? Is this a joke? Btw, in Durant's "inferior" first round he only put up 26.5 7.5 3.8.
Face it... Star factor and Clippers are a young, vital team, not easy to calculate as to how they respond to a physical team.
CP3 and Durant are both great players. It is hard to compare them because they play different positions.
Umm how about their career in the playoffs. Chris Paul career shooting percentage is 49% compared to Durant shooting 42%. There has not been one series where Paul was taken out of the playoff offensively. Meanwhile Durant has had numerous of games where he couldn't even get open down the stretch of a playoff game.
Damn, what an insightful post. I realize it's a ridiculous comparison that's why I made it in response to another ridiculous one. Honestly, they play different positions so they are hard to compare, but are people honestly saying that they would rather have Chris Paul than Kevin Durant? That's just absurd, KD is only 23 and still getting better. A 6'10 wing with range that can put the ball on the floor is unguardable. There are things that can be done to contain CP3 and the Griz just aren't doing it consistently
Clippers aren't all that young of a team. They are older than Memphis. Who gives a care anyway? None of it matters. Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo or Z-Bo needs to blow up next game. It's a shame such a great effort by Conley (25/7/8) goes to waste. Very unlikely he does that again. Blake Griffin has no business scoring 30 points against a big team like Memphis. If the Clips go to the 2nd round and WCFs, he won't do that one time. I don't think one single shot of his was a jumper. Shaud, Dahntay Jones destroyed CP3 a few years ago when the Nuggets played the Hornets. Shut him down cold!
What about that serious against the Nuggets? Btw let's not forget that CP3 has never been past the second round of the playoffs, although I realize Durant is on a better team than CP3 has been in the past...
Memphis need to look at tape at what got them past San Antonio last year in the playoffs. As for the CP3 thing yeah he did shoot bad that series but he still averaged 11 assist that series. In a playoff game I'd rather go to war with Chris Paul than Kevin Durant.
I like how inside the nba is telling how THEY'D stop cp3. smdh. I'm no basketball expert, but I'm pretty sure that it ain't that easy to stop chris paul. Anyway, I do think that Rudy Gay is one year away from leading the grizzlies past a tough team like the clippers. Not to make another KD comparison, but Rudy right now is where KD was at 2 years ago against the Lakers, in terms of playoff basketball. Last year was an amazing run by the grizzlies because of Randolph, but the grizzlies aren't that team anymore. I also think that Mike Conley is a playoff performer, he's done it 2 years in a row. But Marc, Randolph, Hollins, and to some extend, OJ are the reason the grizzlies will lose this series. Marc is especially troubling because he's playing so passive and weak. It didn't even show up for this game until the final minutes of regulation.
I expect they win in Memphis and fight really hard in game 6, but ultimately fall severely short on FTA as the Clips seal the series with a 10+ free throw advantage.
They are right though. Take the ball out of Cp3's hand. Double team him or something. Don't allow Marc Gasol to switch on him for a 1 on 1 matchup.
Conley was making a lot of shots, but he was overdribbling way too much and he kept turning it over by driving baseline, nearly falling out of bounds, and throwing some crap pass back across court. The Grizz are way too stagnant on offense. Feed the damn post and let the big men score and dish to shooters, it's not that complicated!!!
About the time you do that and he hits mo williams for a 3. Also, they mentioned reggie evans can't sore. When evans (or anybody) gets the ball that close to the basket, they can score. Hollins wanted the grizzlies to stay home on the 3 point shooters. That last shot in regulation was a different animal because hollins knows that chris paul was going to take the final shot so they set a trap.
Conley is our only ball handler. And yes sometimes he doesn't drive enough, but if you watch him, he's been our 2nd best player in the playoffs, 2 years in a row. My point with him is that he will be a bigtime player in the playoffs for years to come.
Seems like a match up problem. Clippers have won 5 out of 7 games they've played against them this year (including regular season).
