I certainly hope so, because that means we're doing a quick rebuild, while Memphis is gearing up for a probable first round exit.

Zach Randolph is the new Shareef Adur Raheim except Randolphs reputation isn't as good as Shareef's.

I'm still not convinced personally that he's going to be worthwhile, but true:
    Gasol-Bad Dream
    Randolph - Arthur - Warrick

How do the salaries work? Randolph makes $16.7 million this year and QRich makes around $8 million...

Memphis has a nice 41-41 type team going.

Who is the back-up pg there?

    C Gasol
    PF Randolph
    SF Gay
    SG Mayo
    PG Conley

    Thabeet
    Warrick
    Arthur
    Richardson

Nah, they will go something like 33-49, just because it's Memphis

If you're under the cap the salaries don't need to match. So basically because Memphis are under the cap, they can take back much more salary than they give away. Sold.

    from truehoop:

The NBA's salary cap structure is usually unforgiving of teams who made the kind of miscalculation the Clippers did on Zach Randolph last season. But the Clippers have been leading a charmed existence over the past six weeks. First Blake Griffin land in their lap, and now they find a willing sucker for Zach Randolph.

With a lineup of Gay, Mayo, and Randolph, I don't even expect the ball to be passed 3 times a possession. This should get real interesting. Somebody is not going to be happy.

They need a strong personality at PG and coach but they have neither. Poor Grizzlies.

this dashes my hope of seeing a darius miles qrich re-uniting

    hmm the clippers though

    davis/taylor
    gordon/rich
    thorton/rich/novak
    griffin/camby
    kaman/jordan

on paper thats not too bad of a team and if they want they have their MLE to use too if they can get a backup PG out of it thats a solid team if they can gel

Huh? What is Memphis doing?! Why the hell did they trade Gasol for nothing in the first place then? So they could get the flexibility to acquire Randolph? Bwhahahha!!!! Jesus. This move puts Gay, Mayo, and Randolph on the same team! This has huge implications as each of those players fantasy point outputs will take a hit. Thanks for nothing.

its weird its like i've entered the basketball twilight zone.

in the past week the clippers have made the correct and smart moves usually reserved for competent basketball franchises

    while

the rockets have gone from 2010 championship contenders to 2010 lottery contenders

Things could always be worse. You could be a Grizzlies fan. You trade Gasol for cap space to pay Randolph. In addition, you now have 3 players who do not play defense and do not like to play without the ball and demand the ball, and a point guard who isn't great at setting up an offense and who happens to be young. Nothing could possiblie go wrong (SIC on purpose)

Sorry, but could someone please explain to me what the two-fisted forehead bumping thing was supposed to represent??? I got the "G-Unit, you-can't-see-me" face wave that Tim Thomas was doing for a while, but I was always confused by the forehead bumping after a dunk...

What is up with the Grizzlies' infatuation with Randolph?

And doesn't Wallace realize he essentially traded Milicic for Randolph anyway? Why'd he turn down the original offer?

    Ay, moron.

So the Grizzlies thought Gasol made too much so they have to shed his salary. But apparently Randolph is just fine making about the same amount, and is worth ADDING salary for.

Good F**KING job, Memphis. What a disgrace of a team.
