What an awful move by the Clippers. Baron was finally motivated, and playing like a stud with a solid future next to Blake Griffin, and they trade him for an inferior PG and they also give up an excellent pick.

    Awful, awful, awful...

I would have taken on that pick & Baron for Aaron Brooks, no doubt. (Well, maybe not...)

craziness! great trade for the Clips, I think Mo Williams will fit in really well with Griffin and Gordon (also known as Grifdon). Plus Jamario Moon? More raw athleticism to the most athletic team in the NBA, this'll be fun to watch.

I cant believe the Clippers gave up their 2011 1st round unprotected pick. They needed that to add to their young core. What were they thinking? Does sterling hate Baron that much?

Mo Williams will be a better leader for Gordon of Griffin. Where as Davis is going to cause further chemistry issues for the Cavs. But I still cant believe they gave up their 1st round pick. WOW!!!

This is definitely how I feel as to anti-tanking. This draft is going to be bad. I doubt Irving and Barnes even come out.

they got rid of Baron's terrible contract, he's been very inconsistent (last 2 games he had 8 points and 10 assists total), and he turns 32 in two months. There's no doubt Davis is the better PG but his time is past.

Well com'on. It's the Clippers!!! This is a cheapskate move imo to save money.

mo williams earns like 1/2 of Baron's salaries for the next two years. don't have to pay the guaranteed 2011 1st round round money too. Moon's option for next year can be declined.

Gettin out of a horrible contract takes something of value my man.... Think about it. Why in the world would the cavs trade Mo Will and Moon for BD and is horrible contract str8 up, wouldnt make any sense. I think it was worth the pick to get FAt BD out of there and get some money relife in the future.

Excellent trade for the Cavaliers. They're paying the price to get high lottery picks, which is exactly the right way to rebuild. Pissed off B-Diddy will probably make them lose more and get another high pick in 2012.

I think the Clippers are trying to shed salary so they can nab one of the big 2012 free agents. They actually have a good shot now that they have a stud like Blake.

Why would they not want to come out? With the weak class they are likely to go higher than if they were to come out in a deep draft.

Hmm. Kyrie/Perry and Derrick/Sullinger on the same team.

    Not bad at all.

From Donald Sterlings POV it does save him roughly 13 million over the next 2 years (mo williams has 2yr 16m - Bdavis has 2yr 29 million) but from a fan perspective, yeah not the best of trades. Even with Baron Davis and Kaman, the clippers had the 3rd lowest team salary in the League with decent cap space... so unless this trade is part of a Kaman trade that not only gives the Clippers cap space, but uses to sign a max FA to pair with griffin, gordon, deandre and bledsoe in 2011 or 2012, its basically a 13million dollar salary dump at the cost of a lottery pick.

On the other hand and perhaps a reach, it can be argued that mo williams is a better fit for the Clippers than Bdavis, as one of the bigger needs for Griffin and Gordon is spacing and to be surrounded by capable shooters. Mo williams while undeniably an overpaid, not well rounded, one dimensional point guard is clearly better than Bdavis at that one dimension... namely 3 point shooting and spot up shooting. While hes not half the playmaker Bdavis is, the Clippers dont really require that, as both Gordon and Griffin are outstanding in that department.

The question is that, as well as the monetary savings, worth the cost of the yet unknown value of that 1st round pick.

Cavs source confirms that this deal is more about the Top 10 pick than Baron Davis. Cavs need young talent and aren't afraid to buy it.

Irving has been out almost the whole season and Barnes has really underperformed (although he's been better of late). But mainly because of the potential lockout, if there's no 2011-12 season (unlikely, but possible), they don't get paid. Better to stay in college and improve than sit out a year and not get any money.

They will probably trade Kaman too. I really wanna see the clips move the Minnesota rejects in Gomes+Foye+Smith and Butler too.

I like this trade for the clippers. Though both Williams and Davis were having considerably subpar seasons, Mo is a better scoring threat and has a better attitude and sense of commitment.

Frankly I think anyone can throw up a ball in the air for Griffin to dunk it in...:p

That pick could be massive for Cleveland, just wondering if anyone knows if there are any conditions to the pick?

Foye and and at times Gomes have both looked fantastic for LA. They would be foolish to give them up without decent compensation.
