But, what kind of budget will he have to work with? "Pick any coach and any GM you like. You can offer $1 million split any way you like."
True he rallied the Antwan Jamison trade and accoring to Coach(Lebron)'s decison he rested a couple games.
I'm amused at the thought of LeBron telling Sterling to hire his two high school buddies to fill the positions. Honestly, the Clippers aren't that awful a destination for him. Major market, the Kobe rivalry, a chance to be a legendary savior, some decent talent in Gordon and Griffin, unlike NY they have their lottery pick, and they can possibly sign a second major free agent. Personally, I still think the most logical place for LeBron to go would be the Nets or Bulls. The Nets are in prime shape to rebuild, will have a high draft pick to put next to him and a second top tier FA, and are going to be in Brooklyn soon enough. Harris and Lopez are as good a start as anywhere else besides Chicago (Rose, Deng, Noah). The Bulls are already on the cusp talentwise and also can give him a full offer with cash to spare.
the Nets are going to be in Newark for the next two years at least. who wants to play in downtown Newark?
It would be sick if Lebron went to the Clippers, the 2 best players in the world in one city with 4 matchups between them.
By Lebron James filing the paper work to change his jersey to #6 for next season, could possibly give us a hint that he's staying in Cleveland. A player switching teams can pick whatever number they want without approval. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4958324
Here's a chance to listen to the current Clipper GM Neil Olshey on ESPN Ryen Russillo basketball blog. Neil Olshey breaks down how a few of his plans to rebulid the Clippers in the offseason: http://clipperblog.com/2010/03/26/neil-olshey-with-ryen-russillo-2/
There is no freaking way LeBron is going to the Clippers. It's clear at this point that he's playing for his place in history and wants to win multiple titles. He's way to savvy to go that black hole of a franchise. It's where good players go to die. They will get with injuries, or Stern will get miserly when he has the opportunity to get a blue chip player, coach, or GM. That franchise and its owner has a very long history of screwing things up or having fate screwing things up for them. Why would LeBron risk his legacy to go there? Some of the above apply to the Knicks, but at least they finally have a GM who has a clue. And the owners are clearly willing to spend whatever it takes to win a championship, but the Clippers? C'mon.
This is just garbage put out by the worst franchise in the League. It is along the same lines as when Kobe punked them back in 2004 with that offered to play games in his backyard if he would sign with them. Clips needed to create fake buzz so they could suck in more season ticket holders. This has no real probability of occurrence.
King LerBon the Fantastical would be better off buying a team than joining the Clips. How close is he to his billion dollars goal? I'm sure whatever he's earned so far in his career is enough to buy at least Milwaukee... and move it to somewhere relevant.
I've thought the Clippers are due for some major changes for awhile now. This Lebron stuff is probably untrue, but who knows? Do they have the cap room? LA is a big a market as NY, if not bigger. Lebron and Kobe in the same city would be uber interesting. Clippers should completely change the teams' name and identity with some kind of ultra cool uniform actually voted on by fans (if they have any). What the hell is a Clipper? Like a finger nail clipper? lol. Yes I know its some kind of sea going ship, but come on, its time for a makeover. How about the Quakes? I don't know, something but the freakin' Clippers.
Lebron wants to win. The Clippers are not a winning franchise. Don't spend too much time thinking about how it "could" work. Lebron is a smart business man. He understands location but he also understands the value of winning. That's why he is coming over to the Rockets with China backing him, a great coach, and a great supporting cast . jk on that last sentence.
lol they want him so bad that they would let him run the team. Lebron should do it just to spite Kobe. If there was one guy that could change that whole franchise and actually make them bigger than the Lakers, its Lebron.
The only problem is that Sterling still a cheap owner. A new GM and coach are only as good as the resources available. A GM depends heavily on scouts and other support staff to set up trades and draft hidden gems. Portland and Houston have large front office staffs for that purpose. I see Lebron only going to the Clippers, if he sees that Sterling would come up with the money to make the whole organization from top to bottom and not just the GM and coach.
