Really? I would think we'd be blasted for it if the Rockets got 3 of ANY combination of the players you have up there.

Teams with near max cap space or the ability to easily get there without sacrificing star players are doing exactly what the rockets are doing, the teams that don't have space or the avenues to get there are signing the only players they have any shot at.

Don't delude yourself into think that these teams wouldn't be chasing the stars if they had a way to do it like we do.

No lol the teams with cap are lottery teams that have no chance at contending for title. Rockets aren't being aggressive enough and all this waiting is gonna bite them in the ass

Dallas? Chicago? A few other playoff teams with cap and no shot of bringing in the stars are trying nonetheless.

And being a playoff team that finished as a 4 seed that has near max cap room without losing it's stars to gain that cap isn't something easy to do.

No one has the patience to see things through anymore. Instant gratification or you are failing. Not the way things have to be.

Yeah that offense is potent and JJ's obviously younger than PP.

This is just NBA 'churning'. Mid-level players just moving around, hence the name of the contracts. The Rockets need a stretch 4 off the bench, but I would rather just teach Dmo to shoot. 500 midrange and 500 3's with Calvin watching every day all Summer long.

Hawes has a bad agent. I am sure someone else would of thrown more money to him.

We are fixated at that 3rd star. If we don't get him, zero chance we come out of the West next season with all the other legit free agents being lined up and in many cases taken

I do not understand why so many users on here wanted this guy. I am so glad that it was the Clippers that signed him instead of the Rockets

Clippers are winners of free agency as of now.

Got a guy that fits their biggest need, 25-30 solid mins backing up griffin & d.jordan

I won't say he's useless but every single move teams make can't be an ultimate splash.

The guy does fill a need or two, but you don't need him to be apart of your big 3 to succeed which is why people think its a good signing. He's just a role player that fits a need the Clippers have.

When you realize they had Ryan Hollins (a seven footer thats 6 fouls who sucked so bad he never played, and Glen Davis (played as much because they didnt have anything else)as the backup bigs then you start to understand Hawes has value to the team in a major way. He can grab rebounds, he's a competent big man, he can shoot the mid range and space the floor, he can pass very well.

I'd imagine people nowadays would say Vlade would be a net negative to the Sacramento Kings because he wasn't some aggressive screaming rim protector who intimidated everyone. The game has turned so soft and euro centric that he fits just fine.

Yes but those teams don't already have two supposed stars already like the Rockets do. They along with the Clippers are the only team with both a 1st and 2nd all-NBA player on their team. Just because Morey says they need yet another star doesn't make it true.

By the same token, just because you don't believe we need another star doesn't mean it's the wrong thing to do or that it won't work out if we get one or that if we swing and miss we are completely doomed by letting these other guys sign elsewhere while we wait.

There really are no absolutes here. I happen to agree with the route Morey is taking, mainly because these guys being signed now are just dime a dozen guys. I believe in Moreys ability to unearth underutilized guys to fit with what we need. Especially if he doesn't have to only rely on vet min signings. So if we swing and miss on a big name we then have some real money to play with, something Morey has yet to have since signing Dwight.

If we land a max guy I think were in an even better spot. It lessens your need for better role guys when so many of your minutes are being used up by your great players. That's not to say you are guaranteed to win with 3 stars and a bunch of scrubs, but you have to admit it gives you a damn good shot, better shot than we have had in many years.

Role players don't line up waiting for stars to make a decision, they are taking the initiative
