Clippers ponder pursuing McGrady By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 26 minutes ago Email Print As much as Tracy McGrady(notes) has wanted to play with LeBron James(notes) for the past two seasons, it’s still unclear if the Miami Heat are prepared to offer him a contract. Nevertheless, league sources say a fresh possibility for NBA employment has surfaced for McGrady: the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers have had conversations with McGrady’s agent, and team officials could soon decide to watch him work out for a closer inspection. With Travis Outlaw(notes) signing a free-agent contract with the New Jersey Nets, the Clippers are resolved to sign a swingman with some scoring punch off the bench. They’ve spent the last few days gathering information on McGrady and deciding how they want to proceed. McGrady wanted the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign him last season after his release from the Houston Rockets, but it never happened. He played the rest of the season with the New York Knicks, where a few flashes of his old self were tempered with his recurring knee issues. He shot 39 percent and averaged 9.4 points in 24 games with the Knicks. McGrady has wanted badly to join James with the Heat, but Miami can sign him only to the veteran’s minimum and has yet to make him an offer. The Chicago Bulls have also shown some interest in McGrady http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-mcgradyclippers071410
The team that has players who have freak injuries pursuing an often-injured player, am surprised, especially when the clippers have eric gordon
I haven't heard any news about McGrady by the national media. It will be good to see him get a chance to try to end his career with some grace.
The fact that Miami hasn't contacted him should tell you all you need to know about McGrady's current abilities.
b/c the heat have james and wade. why would they need mcgrady? they need shooters like mike miller. hence why the clips and bulls are more interested in him. it's not about his current abilities. it's style of play.
Why would you say that? He's gone from the team, great, he's not a pain in the ass anymore. Doesen't mean you have to wish bad luck upon him.
How poetic would that be, the greatest underachieving talent the game has seen...ending his career as a Clipper.
why are you worried about him getting past the first round. I actually wish he does get there. He is a great guy.
