taking this mighty personal aint ya?

I havent said a word one that could be construed as rude to you...just correcting your mistaken assumption that it doesnt matter what shenanigans you pull around here, people will still take you seriously.

I offered it as a headsup in case you dont know how things go around here...obviously you dont give a ****.

so be it...dont say you werent informed.

edit: to you this may forever a anonymous place...but alot of us *have* met in RL..and shared a few beers together...you choose to not want to be a actual part of the community...oh well..Im sure we will survive.

Sorry to but in but I hope you're not so upset about your credibility being called out on D & D that you wouldn't actually want to have a friendly meeting with any Clutchfan. Yes its true that existentially we're all just text on a screen to each other but that's like saying that a stock ticker is just showing numbers on a screen. The information is what matters and since we live in an information society for better or worse we look at that text as being a person we are interacting with. On that basis I consider you, R2K, Deckard, Hayes, Wnes, Basso, Giddyup, thegary and all the other Clutchfans as people. I might not know your real names or what you look like but if given the opportunity would certainly like to meet any Clutchfan. Especially R2K whow I would definately by a drink for for posting all of those Rockets games on bittorrent.

Unless you meant never grab a beer because you don't drink. ;)

    man, you are slow.

as we went over about a dozen times, macaca is a term used by european colonists in north africa towards native africans. george allen's mom is french-tunisian. tunisia is a country in north africa. george allen speaks fluent french. with all that in mind i dont know how you can keep saying he didnt know what macaca meant.

what are we trying to figure out here?

    was clinton lying?

    is allen a racist?

is the term "macaca" racially offensive?

is it okay to lie as long as you can calim victory in a BBS debate as a result of it?

There are only two people on this site who know who I really am.

But as much as I would love to, I wouldn't meet you guys for a beer and have you know my name and my handle. The views I espouse on here are very controversial, and I'm here to explore pushing the limits of certain viewpoints as a means to learn and explore intellectually. You never know what may happen later on in life...the last thing I would need to have is someone pointing out some controversial thing I wrote on a BBS 25 years later. Annoymity is critical to be able to voice some of the views I do - that are again test debates and not necessarily the beliefs I espouse.

If I were to meet you guys, you wouldn't know I was NewYorker that's for sure, and it would only be in the context of the Rockets.

But as for this reality, here online....no, I'm not going to apologize for anything I've written because the whole point is to test ideas and try different things. It's part of a learning experiment in how people form perceptions and views. I've tried a few different personalities on different BBS's....and while you can take a certain persona that say is similar to Sishir's, I've found the most interesting debate is spawned by taking a rough, antagonistic, and provocative stance.

Whether or not you decide to read what I write or take it seriously is irrelevant...

No kidding! Plus, you've been able to explain, over and over and over again, to chumps like me, how to do the bit-torrent thingy, which we all know you've lived night and day for. (hee-hee!) I can actually do it now... I think. At least it's worked for me a few times, and I actually did the "seeding" thing. Felt like my Grandpa did back in East Texas as a kid, when he would work on farms for extra money, flinging seeds left and right. Now that I think about it, that may explain his ardent love for cattle, lol! ;)

Credibility? So you guys won't believe me if I say anything more about myself? Ok...that's fine. I take everything written hear with a grain of salt anyway. It's the internet for freakin sake! My credibility on here means nothing....but I am capable of getting annoyed when people are obsessing about my race and a thread 2 months ago when I'm trying to make a point about something completely unrelated...

Yes, of course there are persona's behind the text, but I don't think it's a real interaction....it's contrived and in reality, would never be like this. People wouldn't have the courage to criticize others and such as they do here. This is filtered communication. A different type to be sure.

Now I've met a clutch fan in new york, and i might meet more someday, but they'll never know I'm new yorker. I just don't want that trail. I have nothing to gain from it. I'd rather interact with real people on a real level....this isn't real.

No, lies indicate that I didn't want certain personal information about myself revealed....not my race, age, or anything. Not where I went to school. Not where I live percisely, not my height or weight or anything. Because I don't want to be known. I am just text on a screen - and have no desire to be anything more. This is purely an intellectual excercise to explore ideas. I'm not interested in making connections or anything like that. That's what real life is for. Is that so hard to understand for you? How many times do I have to spell it out?

As for the Simpsons - do you really feel that when every representation of Indians in the media is that of a thick-accented bobbling caricature that's not racism? Do you know how many times I've had to hear "Do you work at the Kuicky Mart?" Just because you find it funny doesn't mean it's not offensive. And guess, what, I don't find it offensive, because people are idiots and that's life. But let me tell you that when there isn't a single positive portrayel of an Indian American male in media today you have to really begin to wonder. You see black doctors and lawyers, Jewish businessmen, Mexican comedians, Asians - but there's an inequality when it comes to this minority. So yeah, I'd rather see that fixed then worry about macaca which most people didn't even know what it meant until Webb and CO made a big deal about it.

No, to demonstrate that just because I was taking a position against calling George Allen a racist that I wasn't some kind of white supremist or anti-minority. I didn't introduce my race into the conversation - other people did. I brought up my race to demonstrate that you can't tie someone's views to their race. I felt it was an important enough point to mention my race on here for the first time in 4 years.

Once I had made that point...my race was of considerable interest and I wanted my annoymity returned. Mind you - I was called a liar for pretending to be Indian American and said that I would lie to win a debate. I didn't lie to win a debate - I lied to restore my annoymity. That's how much I value it. My point had been made, there was no need for anything further.

In order to make it more believable - that I indeed was lying and that I was not Indian - I rubbed it in a bit how I fooled you all and so on and so forth. To be honest, I would have been fine with people not taking me as seriously or my credibility being damaged....in exchange for my annoymity. But then I realized that it was really annoying to be heckled everywhere I posted by you and Jo Mama and one other guy. So I just realized the only way to get these obsessive guys off my back is to retire or just live with the fact that some of my personal info is going to be known.

Do I like the fact that George Allen called an Indian American macaca? No. But the guy was dressed like a clown a bit. His hair was funky. And it wasn't just his race, it was his whole get up that made him stand out. He could have been white and dressed that way, and maybe George Allen would have still called him macaca, and no one would have thought otherwise.

But no ones knows for sure what went through Allen's mind. Not 100%. We can only think. And with everyone ripping him a part for it, i felt that there was enough doubt to take the other stance.

As for Indian Americans protrayal in the media....I bemoan the fact that nobody has brought up the fact that Indians are not portrayed positively in our country. It seems to me people are more interested in sliming George Allen as a racist then they are in dispelling ignorance about Indian Americans.

That's the point I'm trying to make.

what are you talking about...thats the whole issue. you brought up the "fact" that you are indian to try to bolster your argument that being called macaca isnt offensive. it all started with you introducing your race into the conversation.

i dont think so - macaca is a term used by european colonists towards native africans. allens mom is french-tunisian. tunisia is a country in north africa. allen speaks fluent french. stop trying to pretend he didnt know what it meant. your continued defense of ignorant comments is astounding!

your "point" has changed more times than bush's rationale for invading iraq.
