Awesome link, thanks! I know Clinton deserves credit for his rhetorical abilities, but let's face it, he was also awesome because he had the truth on his side.
What I saw after the interview was over, and the Fox "spin" began, was exactly what I expected. They had plenty of time to prepare, had a "panel" loaded far over to the right, with one person from NPR (the other NPR talking head, the woman, who's name excapes me, is one who comes from the conservative side), who I've seen before, that is a nice enough fellow (Williams? Damn, I'm bad with names!), but overwhelmed by the rest. What words did we hear from the Fox talking heads? Praise for Wallace (hilarious!), and repeated use of words "describing" Clinton as having had an "outburst," blah, blah, blah... in a vain attempt to somehow denigrate what he said (they failed at that), and to attempt to boost Wallace's pathetic and rude showing. (they failed at that, as well) Speaking of rude, it was shocking how Wallace spoke to Clinton, in my opinion. Bill is a two term former President of the United States, and while I was expecting something like Wallace did, it is still shocking, in an historical context, to see Clinton interviewed in such a manner. Bill made him pay, and pay dearly. They show it again at 6pm, which I had confused yesterday with this morning's time slot. Lets hope it had a big audience. This is an example of how Fox promoted the interview, after it had occured, but before it was shown. Typical. "Fair and Balanced," my ass. Oh, and a big THANK YOU to FOX for helping the Democratic Party in the elections. Keep D&D Civil.
I didn't see the Fox piece. I just watch the video from Crooks and Liars. That is hilarious. It sounds like they didn't reply to the facts of how many times Bush administration folks were on and never asked about it. I think Mora Liason or something like that is the one NPR person they had. Juan Williams is usually in the right place but doesn't stick up enough for his position.
"i did not have sex w/ that woman while i was watching that tall man in the white robes run away!" or, " i did not have sex with that tall man in the white robes!"
I like Cilnton, but I think his sex scandal is much worse than a lot of Dems would admit to. I don't care too much about the sexual habits of my politicians, or even sex outside of marriage, but he did break the law and he did have inappropriate relationships with someone under his employ. If you are suppose to represent the progressive party that stand for women's rights, how can you not appear to be a hypocrite? Having said that, what Clinton did is nothing compared to the fact that Bush started an unjustified war that actually weakened our safety . So please stop embarrassing yourself. Equating the sex scandal with a massive misuse of our military forces that results in a less safe America just makes you look weak minded.
So sex will affect your job? Did you employer forbid you to have sex, and how? Only unemployed ones are allowed to have sex?
Yeah, Willy used the "finger pointing" in the interview like he did in that famous statement. It makes it seem like he was well rehearsed and in full control of the "ambush". This is his rebuttal for the ABC movie.
Wallace didn't listen to his own interview. (In all probability he was told what to say after the fact just as his questions were scripted for him.)
One reason why most news is COMPLETLY USELESS. How difficult is it for the Associated Press to simply look at the transcript and factually point out that the Fox News response was not reflective of the events? SIMPLE. And the ONLY real useful job that they could have done for their readers. As it stands, they just relay the basic event through quotations and also give a pulpit to any lying moron that opens his mouth. Since they published completely false quotations by Wallace without any recognition of the fact, they might as well have printed, "I just told him that he was wearing a nice suit, and he launched into this conspiratorial rant. I really think that he is unstable right now." Is it considered "editorial" to point out someone is lying? AP is useless. I can't believe that I can't rely on a major news association to actually do a little research. Instead, I have to go to Youtube, watch the interview, dig for the transcript, then dig for additional info about the follow up. Wallace Lying
Great post. As a news junkie, I see this stuff, like Wallace lying through his teeth, all the time, but they almost never get called on it. Ticks me off, and it's not "fair and balanced," either. Keep D&D Civil.
