Nene isn't about the long run. He's a temp solution for the playoffs right now and maybe next season. The Rockets need Capela grow up and become a man next year. They should continue starting Capela during the playoffs but yank him sooner when pulls the disappearing act.
I think MDA did it right tonight. 20 mins and mostly went with Nene who was dominating. If Capela is struggling in a matchup he needs to atleast play 20 to not exhaust Nene.
Nene is outrebounding Capela in this series, on less minutes. Many of us here love Capela and know what his strengths are, so you don't have to work so hard to protect him with your stats, since you don't watch the games. You certainly don't need to try to down play what Nene is doing in this series. We all aren't here making up this story that Capela can disappear with soft play, and lack of rebounding vs this OKC team. He is one of the main reasons we are giving up huge points early to OKC...and it happened twice in the regular season to them, too. Call it a bad matchup if you want. But don't downplay Nene who is outrebounding him and outscoring him in each game.
I watched the playoffs You can stop saying that You're making this peronal I saw Capela have good games the first two games and I'm not changing from the entire season cause a guy had his best playoff game in his fourteen year career
Clint played 2 awesome games in Houston, and two poor games in OKC. 22 years old in essentially his first NBA playoffs. Not sure where all these Clint haters were in Houston, but I assume they will disappear again soon.
I love watching Nene play. It's fun it's productive but he is on his minute count cause of age Game 90 isn't the time to change Capela and the rockets are gonna have to work this out
It's not personal to me. I like Capela. He's great at our various PnRs. Is pointing out his weaknesses personal to you? Capela is not as good of a rebounder as you portray him as, hence why Nene is outrebounding him against this tough rebounding OKC team. If you like stats, you should know that volume stats often don't show the whole picture. When you want to compare Capela to other bigs in the league, you choose to use Rebounds per 36. Better stat for a high-paced team like the Rockets who have a wide open lane is to look at % of rebounds out of all rebounds when he's on the court. It's called TRB%. It's not a fancy stat at all. It just says out of all the rebounds available, how many does he get. He's tops on the team, but he's average to below average versus the league's other centers.
I would imagine those stats don't jive cause the Rockets shoot so many threes causing long rebounds It makes further sense that the Rockets guards rebound well cause of long rebounds OKC has purposely taken Capela out by never letting him have space. He has to adjust
Overall on Capela and the rebounding, he was trending up second half of the season in everything I started that Capela thread cause of the second half of the season Now is not the time to bench him. You can always bring Nene in. All that being said I've never seen Harrell play and if you play Capela less he has to be in the discussion cause Nene is an older player Just a fact of life Nene could do that today cause the Rockets have managed him perfectly
Generally we are out rebounding a team that kills it on the boards. I like what's happening out there. No need to change just yet. Capela and Nene rotation working. Scoring is just a bonus.
I meant to post this before last post I would imagine Capela's rebounding per opportunity average is lagging cause of all the threes causing long rebounds Rockets guards seem to get a lot of rebounds for same reason
Capela plays a soft game. That kills us. This is exactly why we needed a big at the trade deadline. What happens if we play a physical game..... like we should expect for the playoffs Nene is great, and is stepping it up for the playoffs, unlike Clint. But Nene is older and can only play limited minutes. How long are we gonna keep saying....oh hes really developing. Oh he's only 21, 22, 23 years old as a reason to put up wit his soft play. In mean time, Harden is in his prime.
Hope they give Trez some burn at the 5 or 4 when Capella is being a nobody like he has been for game 3 and 4... we are going to need him if Capella continues to play like this.
The last thing i wanna hear WHILE WE'RE IN THE PLAYOFFS is .....oh hes really developing. Oh he's only 21, 22, 23 years old as a reason to put up wit his soft play...
Not sure Trez is going to solve the problem though, Adams and Kanter are going to eat him alive too imo, maybe he would move a bit better on offense...not sure, but on defense and on the boards eh...
