A little more nostalgia about happier times during this miserable season. Zack Lowe on the rise of CC:
    https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/31388513/how-clint-capela-anchored-surging-hawks

Still can't believe we actually had to attach a 1st rounder to swap him for Roco. About the trade:

The introduction of Russell Westbrook last season cramped Houston's spacing. The Rockets jettisoned Capela, and went all-in on small ball. Capela had been dealing with a plantar fascia injury and a bone bruise in his heel when the Rockets sent the then-six-year vet to Houston. The trade stung.

"I was surprised, but I also felt the team was going downhill," Capela says. "I was scared I would never find a vibe like that again -- a winning team, in the playoffs every year."

I always wondered when the players could start to tell that the window was closed.

Horrible and short sighted trade by Morey. He always overvalues one-dimensional players like Shumpert, Covington, Tucker, Battier, etc.

Basicly turning into the 2nd coming of Mutumbo. Funny how he might get his chance to shine like deke did there as well in atl. Good luck to him.

    What even is this lmao.

You're trying to defend Capela, but if you add him to your list, he's actually the most one-dimensional player.

his dimensions show up on the stat sheet. Rebounds, blocks, and dunks. Very good at defending the pick and roll also.

One-dimensional =/= bad. Capela is great at the things he needs to be great at.

But what the Rockets needed, at that point in time, was floor spacing and for their players not to be anchored to the paint so that Westbrook could drive in.

Those players that the poster listed obviously aren't better than Capela at the things Capela is best at. But the Rockets needed a versatile player that could defend all 5 positions AND not be a complete liability behind the 3 point line. Capela wasn't that.

I'm happy for him. I really wished it had worked out for him here, but glad he's on a winning squad that has a bright future.

I doubt we would have done the trade if Capela were healthy.

I think when the post game of the league eases back up, players like Capella who can't shoot, will have a thriving existence again.

Shumpert was a salary dump move. The rest of those guys were anything but one-dimensional. And all of them were extremely valuable. You might be dumb.

The 3-ball trend is here to stay, but there has always been a need for rugged, mobile bigs who can catch lobs on one end and block shots on the other. Capela was good at his job and is even better today, plus he was locked up on a favorable contract. It was a piss-poor decision for us to trade for Westbrook, and we kept losing value with each move until talent drained out of this team completely.

I’m sure this is the time where people are gonna act like Capela wasn’t getting disrespected in every game thread and destroyed on here every postseason

like “Capela can be replaced by McGee” or insert some other mediocre big wasn’t a constant post on here

He's already dominating the paint. What a dumb ****ing trade.

    1st in rebounds
    4th in blocks
    11th in PER
