true his offense is boosted by cp3 and harden but he is really good finishing around rim, has a soft touch and can make baskets from different angles, can drive from ft line dribble somewhat when necessary and i have no doubt he would be very good in another system and could fill the stat sheet well , just don't know would his impact on the team success be the same cause he seems to be crucial to what rockets do...
Lakers now has the chance to poach Capela, which might suck. Massive amount of money usually Trump ring/loyalty.
We are going to be in such a tough position this summer. I really do think Capela can get big money from either Phoenix or Dallas. Both teams will have to make a move for their roster, and both would see Clint as a good pairing with their other young star, Devin Booker and Dennis Smith Jr. Neither team is invested in a big man for the future and will be looking to shore up that position. I know contract numbers are decreasing but there will be a few big ones handed out, and if not for a major star it would certainly be for someone as young as Clint. I say he gets $20 mil a year.
I think we will match the total amount the highest bidder offers him frankly. I expect that to be between 15 and 18m, and it will only be that because people will want to **** us since we're so much better than all but 1 or 2 teams.
I expect Capella to keep improving and becoming an Allstar. As he gradually gets stronger, he will increase his rebounding and he will be in better position to block shots. He has improved his shooting beyond the rim. He’s even become respectable at his free throws. I can see someone throwing near max money at him, possibly even max. Shoot, Chandler Parson was given a max contract. Capella is going to be an anchor as he fills out his body.
I don't see it. Capela has some nice qualities but he is also inflated in the Rockets system and I am sure teams know that. I doubt the Mavs or Suns will spend a HUGE portion of their cap room on a player like Capela who is not a star. He will never be an all star in my opinion. And there is nothing wrong with that either. Just a really good player. I could see the Mavs offering Noel 4/40 in this TIGHT market and him seeing his mistakes and taking it. Then the Mavs could have Noel at HALF the cost of your Capela projection and then allocate their resources better to other areas. Dedmon is another athletic C that can be had more cheaply and he has a 3pt shot.
The Lakers aren't going to throw the max at Capela when they are chasing all the other marquee names that are obviously more valuable at the max than Clint. If they swing and miss on LBJ AND Paul George AND Demarcus, it would then be more advantageous for them to suck again for another year and keep stocking up on solid young players on rookie deals. Clint makes a difference if you already have a star or two(you could say the same about DJ), but the Lakers need to land a big fish first and that doesn't seem very likely at this point.
6 of the top 8 players projected in the draft are 6'10" or taller. 3 of the being centers. that should take a few teams out of the bidding.
I hope Clint realizes how much he benefits from playing with guys like Harden and Paul. On one hand, the Rockets don't want to be insulting towards him and the improvements he made during negotiations. On the other, he needs to understand how much his improvement is a product of playing within a particular spread-out system with PGs who can break down a defense and feed him open looks at the rim.
Teams aren’t going to spend big money on centers with the exception of boogie and even then I don’t think he gets anywhere close to the max. I don’t see Capela getting anything over 10 million a year tbh.
I love Clint. He knows his role and never goes outside of his lane like Dwight have always wanted to do. That being said, any team that gives him a huge deal better have an elite point guard already on the roster that is capable of feeding Clint the way Harden and Paul can. In the end, though, I think he's so comfortable and happy here that he'd take less to stay and play with Harden and Paul than to make 2-3 million more somewhere else. Of course this is based on the assumption that no GM is stupid enough to throw $20+ million at him this summer.
If you see his peers. Guys like Whiteside, Gobert, Dwight Howard, etc... they are all making 22-25 million a year. Unless he give a steep discount to the Rockets, he’ll likely be playing somewhere else if the Rockets lowball him. Thinking he’ll sign for 12-18 million almost seems delusional. But let’s let Morey work his magic, maybe he can convince Capella and his agent to take bottom dollar in building a dynasty.
Trade Clint Capela for a 1st round pick in a deep draft and Sign Deandre Jordon to a home town discount. Ship off Ryan Anderson. and perhaps Eric Gordon if he can't stay healthy. Go after Lebron or Paul George. or my Sleeper Tobias Harris. Yep just like that.
