Allowing entrenched industries stifle legislation for energy innovation while using that money to subsidize even more research into outdated technology is the American way.

Another reason why most Americans are awakening to the two parties and a crazy step-child political spectrum:

    party 1: Democrats
    Party 2: Indepenents

    Ostracized step child: The GOP

That's not what I think of people who disagree with me necessarily; it's what I think of Republicans. That was not always true. But these days, when a majority of the party believes the president isn't Christian and isn't a citizen and that Saddam was responsible for 9/11, I have to believe that those people are either crazy or stupid. Ergo, a majority of the Republican party is crazy or stupid.

I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. I have a problem with crazy, stupid people. I have an even bigger problem with the liars that make those crazy people stupid. It is those same liars that are leading the global warming denial charge.

Its called reality. It makes sense to put significant money into refining what you might think is outdated technology instead of throwing all our hopes on what could very well be white elephant projects.

All our hopes? We're in a catch-22 where cleaner technology exists, but it's more expensive than fossil fuel tech, so the market doesn't exist to innovate clean tech through economies of scale.

Then you have people who outright resist those products because it doesn't look convenient, feel hippy-ish or some misguided principle of "others not telling me what to do".
