none of the elites telling you to cut back on energy consumption will cut back on their energy consumption
That may very well be true, but if people don't cut back, you'll have brownouts. It won't be the politicians on either side that suffer.
Give me some nuclear, baybay. I'm ready for it. Now, given how our country operates, I'm aware that we'll never get new nuclear facilities unless it lines the pockets of both the relevant politicians and the giant energy companies. But, even with that, I'm on-board. It will be a **** show in the beginning for the reasons I just mentioned, but I think it's the best path long-term.
lol. California has precisely one nuclear power plant https://calmatters.org/environment/2022/05/nuclear-power-california/ so not very serious about climate change
Fracking is also making a comeback and is expected to break-even if things hold till 2024. Both (uranium for nuclear) are extremely dirty to extract but could provide a more diverse energy supply as Russia or OPEC becomes harder to manage. Uranium stocks has been an open buy since earlier this year.
I think, I'm just saying here, that we might have known a thing or 2 and then learned a thing or 2 from Japan about building reactors on coastal seismic zones. What says you? Or what says your articles?
You gotta put them in places with ample water, away from people, and immune from natural disasters. If I knew of that place, I'd move there myself.
nuclear reactors are built to withstand seismic activity, if California is using that as an excuse not to build nuclear plants, then again, they're not very serious about climate change
Madison Hilly is a good person to follow on nuclear. She regularly addresses the common concerns. https://twitter.com/MadiHilly She's also been interviewed many places and has done lots of public engagement, so there's a lot of stuff from her. And, she's not an eyesore, so that's nice, too.
'Japan is restarting idle nuclear power plants and consider developing next-gen reactors' - CNN Aug'22 Nuclear power should be seriously considered as part of the answers to moving away from fossil fuels.
US nuke plants can now survive truck bombs or having an airplane slammed into them. They aren't the pieces of junk in Japan which should have been retired more than a decade ago.
