I actually agree with him directionally. Tell him to tell the dumbass German government, who literally have the dumbest energy policies on earth.
We are all surely going to die now, need protesters at these volcanoes in order to stop them from erupting....
In addition, recent discoveries suggest that climate change can also directly affect volcanic eruptions. "Sea level rise, glacial melting, aquifer depletion, and mountain erosion can all affect the likelihood and frequency of volcanic eruptions. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidb...ge-impact-volcanic-eruptions/?sh=4ac7a3d43a8b
So you are saying we also need Stop Level Rising, Stop Melting, Stop Depletion and Stop Eroding protestors? That's alot of protestors...
Someone should start a thread that's actually about climate change vs this one about people being upset with climate protestors.
Lol, that submission is not a scientific paper nor is it from the Royal Society. But hey, if someone tweets it, it must be FACT lol
That’s reasoning would be like saying “there is a forest fire happening so then me setting my house on fire shouldn’t be a big deal”. If anything they there are also natural sources of greenhouse gases is more reason should be limiting human caused emissions.
The constant back and forth about climate change is stupid. There has always been climate change and there will always be climate change. What is important for people to understand is that climate change, whether is be too hot or too cold, will be devastating to our planet and to mankind. WE MUST LEARN TO CONTROL THE CLIMATE IN ORDER TO SURVIVE. We cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend climate change is not dangerous. Unfortunately climate change has gone political and people have gone into their respective corners, so solving this problem is now going to be all the more difficult to tackle. We must learn how to warm the climate when the earth is too cold, and to cool the climate when the earth is too warm. To some people that may seem like an impossible task, but it must be done for humans to survive on earth. We need to start learning how to do this NOW. If the actions of man have contributed even in a small way to the warming of the planet, then I don’t see the problem with trying to curb those actions in order to slow down the warming. In the coming millions of years man will probably have to do a lot of manipulating in order to keep our planet habitable. There are some things, in regard to climate change, that we can control and some things we cannot control. At the very least, let’s make an effort on the things we can control.
To add even if the science of climate change is absolutely wrong there are still many reasons to move beyond fossil fuels. Doing things like increasing energy efficiency, developing multiple sources of energy will free us from many geopolitical concerns, create more resilient energy infrastructure and save money. It’s laughable and sad to see people resisting things like improved energy efficiency because of ideology.
If you simply take this xtweet as a "fact", you are not using your critical thinking mind at all. "Potentially" without any actual numbers is pretty much useless, so that should set off an alarm. The sun can potentially explode tomorrow, which is an example of a true statement but completely useless. The tweet should end there, but, of course, it doesn't, since many people are easily influenced by confirmation bias. An actual estimate of this eruption is that it emitted on the order of 2000 metric tons of CO2. CO2 from burning fossil fuels totals about 34 billion tons per year. (In case you're not familiar with the metric system, 34 billion tons is 33,998,000,000 tons more than 2000 metric tons). p.s. this doesn't yet take into account aerosols from a volcano eurption. The huge amount of aerosols from a volacon eurption can actually result in a cooling effect for the earth (temporary, but could last a few years).
