Since you're admitted to trolling there probably is no value to responding to you but since I have time on my hand while waiting for other info for work.

Since you've cited specific weather events as part of your argument there have been record highs on specific days in the Minneapolis which as I live can attest is in Minnesota. In case you missed it I did put an emoticon which Swoly D can explain means something was posted in jest.

Anyway this is another example of how cherry picked your argument is. You cite specific weather events when it supports your argument but cite averages otherwise. I will agree with you if you accept it that weather isn't climate. The fact that it got to 36 degrees last Sunday in Minneapolis in and of itself isn't a sign of Climate change. That said the very example you post showing above average temp ranks over a longer period of time in Minnesota is. Particularly how the lower temp over an extended period of time is above the historic average. That falls in line with climate change prediction that the daily lows will be trending higher.

Humans cause climate change so we must rid the Earth of humans to save it. Anyone concerned with climate change should do their part and remove their carbon footprint from the planet. Come on people hurry up and save the planet.

So let me get this straight, you deny science and logical thinking because if you admit that science is right and global warming due to co2 emissions is the reality, somehow it will change your lifestyle and therefore you must resist the science and not the policy???

    I will say this:

Man made global warming is real.

    And....

Trying to reduce Co2 emissions is pointless as it's way too little too late. So I don't support policy to cut CO2 emissions.

You see, I am a pragmaticist. Logical thinker. While I may lean liberal, I honestly don't care about liberal vs. conservative. It's an intellectual excercise that means nothing for me. It just so happens that many of my views happen to be more on the left than right. Logic dictates that man has f'd with the earth and temps are going up because of it. Anyone who denies it is either ignorant or has an agenda. Logic also dictates anyone who thinks cutting Co2 production in the U.S. by say 25% and that would stop the pain we are in for is also drinking some sort of kool aid. It's not the right solution. It is not realistic and will not address the underlying problem.

But to deny the problem just because you hate liberals is just pathetic and shows that you are controlled not by an independent mind but by the fear and garbage you have been indoctrinate with.

Was that suppose to be funny? My goodness.

We need to get rid of deniers enough to work toward a solution so human can continue to sustain their way of life on this Earth.

Our grandkids will wish it was the deniers we eliminated.

You made two errant claims which I pointed out with data supported by the NOAA. That is not cherry-picking. That is not trolling. I think you are making a third error by claiming that anybody hear has gone to "great lengths to explain some fairly complicated principles". At most, people have posted material from blogs, posted political cartoons, and posted graphs and charts without citation (links).

Recent interview with Richard Muller, a true skeptic that formed Berkeley Earth to look at climate change. Berkeley Earth was originally funded by a number of contributors in 2010, including the Koch Brother.

Yes and I gave you partial credit. As you own link points out that there is divided opinion on whether the CA drought is an effect of AGW or not. Also as you noted in your own post record temps in Minnesota don't have to apply to state averages but to individual areas since we are talking weather in that regard and not climate. Also Swoly D has offered to explain what the emoticon I posted means. That said I applaud you for looking at averages and as pointed out the info you posted from NOAA on the temperature averages does show a warming trend in Minnesota particularly among daily lows.

As I said before to I'm certainly willing to not discuss individual weather phenomena and focus on overall trends if you are. It doesn't seem like you are since you keep on harping on weather forecasting.

As for the lengths people have gone to explain things a simple review of this thread will show some detailed explanations. Rimrocker on this very page post a video from NASA going over how droughts are being exacerbated by climate change. That you don't see that isn't a counter to that but more of an example of your denial.

What do you think of Berkeley Earth which confirms the data and was funded by the Koch brothers and which turned their own paid climate skeptic to switch sides and say climate change is real and manmade?

I think we need to start a campaign to save Lake Erie. If we all go out and create as much CO2 as possible, maybe we can warm the planet and defrost the lake. I am going to go burn a tire right now to do my part. I will also drive my SUV further than usual to release more emissions and leave all my lights on tonight.

To rocketsjudoka and Sweet Lou 4 2 - I am preparing a rebuttal. However, in the meantime, the latest round of winter storms has caught my attention. I guess it's what they call a 'long duration' winter storm. It looks pretty darn wicked.

You still don't understand that weather does NOT equal climate?

Can you define climate without using weather to define it, or do they not teach subsets in mathematics at UH?

Note I didn't say they weren't related, but what you don't seem to grasp is that they are not equal.

Yeah I think you have to fundamentally grasp what climate change really is about here. A cold snap or a heat wave doesn't say anything about climate change.

For instance last year was brutal here in nyc, and yet temperature wise across the global, it was one of the warmest.

The impact that climate change has on our lives isn't going to be week to week, it's decade to decade. It doesn't mean it's not going to ever freeze in Texas again. It does mean the sea levels are going to rise.

The NASA probabilities are based on the IPCC's worst case scenarios: RCP 8.5 and RCP 4.5. So, the study is basically an assessment of natural variability (droughts) being stronger due to increase radiative forcing (RCP 8.5/4.5). So, these droughts are due to non-ACO2GW forces. From what I could research, the study also mentions absolutely nothing about El Nino, ENSO or the PDO.

The probabilities stated by the NASA study seem to imply that even under reduced CO2 concentrations that the droughts will still be severe and that they will almost certainly occur. In fact, from what I'm reading, there have been, within the past 2000 years, a couple droughts lasting about 200 hundred years in California.

The news article linked to above has an interesting graphic reconstructed from a study of historic drought in the United States.

Furthermore, the IPCC does almost nothing to address the impact of El Nino on global climate. Which is why many posters on this forum become cranky when someone "cherrypicks" temperature data points starting at 1998 (when global temperatures rose due to the effects of a very strong El Nino). In fact, as far as the IPCC goes, all I can find in regards to El Nino is one dedicated section in the Physical Science Basis, in a supplemental section, in the last chapter (ch. 14):

I'm not sure how serious ACO2GW proponents want to be taken, but essentially saying that El Ninos will become more frequent due to global warming or maybe it's the other way around, doesn't doing anything to advance their argument. That's been my take-away on the issue: the IPCC says it knows very little about ocean cycles, which happen to account for 90% of atmospheric heat production, and these cycles could very well explain the rise in global temperatures.

Prior to the YouTube video I had never heard of it. I'm not sure what it has to do with anything in this debate.

    Winter storm update

On the otherside of the planet it's snowing in the Middle East. This happened back in 2013.

In a system that is billions of years old any "change" that lasts less than 10,000 years is a snap.

I don't need an apocalyptic narrative to understand that lowering my energy usage as much as possible is a good idea.

Dinosaurs didn't drive SUVs and mother nature kicked them off the island. Our perceived level of control is a joke. You believe that your actions are contributing to global warming but I doubt you have done a damn thing about it, why not?
