Has anyone taking one before? What are some good ways to study? From what I've read REA books and InstantCert.com are pretty good but wanted to hear from personal experience.
at first glance i thought this thread was going to be amazing, but then i realized it said CLEP test...not Clap test
I'm taking the Intro to Sociology test... I'm not sure what test everyone else is talking about (STD?, clap?) Basically its a test where you get college credit for some courses rather than taking it a semester: $90 and hour of testing vs. $500+ and 3 months.
I took the CLEP calculus test. I pretty much just downloaded the PDF file with the rundown of what was on it and more or less taught myself the material from an old edition textbook that I bought online for cheap. Mind you, I had taken calc in high school, so I wasn't exactly jumping into it blind. But Soc isn't a tough subject, I imagine you could probably teach it to yourself.
I CLEP'ed a US History class and a Political Science Class. I did both of them in January and studied through the Christmas break. I bought books for both of them. The History CLEP test had a study guide for it in particular.
I took a bunch of them -- I got out of a semester of college from CLEP tests. Now, that was 10 years ago, but I just used one of the CLEP prep books -- sort of skimmed through it and took the test. I don't remember entirely, but I know I took a math one, an english one, a history CLEP test, and also one of like social sciences that had art and music. They aren't really that bad -- take one and see how you do.
They don't do the swab anymore because it can cause urinary infections, ironically that have similar symptoms to Ghonorea. It's a piss test and a blood test now. Don't worry, even if you have it, it's gone in less than a week with antibiotics.
