If that's the case then I have seen plenty of Caucasian people have redneck themed parties, essentially making fun of themselves as you have put it. I have never seen African-American people throw a party like the one this thread is about.

Anybody can designate themselves a redneck. Can anybody designate themselves white, black, Asian, Indian, or whatever else. There is a huge difference. If you don't see it then you're the idiot.
I never said anything about making fun of anyone. I seriously think that people need to chill out though.
Well I know an African-American named Justin who is friends with my cousin. On the back of his truck he has a lot of stickers one of which happens to say "Southern Redneck" and the sticker has a rebel flag on it. As I said, anybody can designate themselves a redneck, you're not born that way it's just a designation that some people grow into and out of.
All of the people defending these r****ded theme parties want to pretend this stuff happens in a vacuum. It doesn't. The history of slavery, segregation, and virulent racism against blacks is the context in which these parties take place and makes them especially despicable. I'll break out the Nazi analogy to try and explain this point. In the '30s and '40s Germans making fun of Jews because they had big noses, were money grubbers, and bred like vermin is not the same as Jews making fun of Nazis by mocking the Heil Hitler salute or painting on a Hitler mustache. The history of discrimination against the Jews in Germany and the power differential between the two groups makes all the difference in the world when judging the two similar actions.
Well as long as us white guys don't put on makeup nobody will ever know and will just think it is a regular non-black redneck party and that will be ok since we would just look like regular white rednecks not like black ones.
