Sosa was more brown than black. We only don't like black players. That's the agreement, don't back out now.

Difference is a corked bat is a myth. If you continue putting up solid numbers, people will tend to forget about it.

The part I highlighted below reminded me of this thread.

By the way...why does the national media insist Roger lives in Katy??? He lives deep in the Memorial area. His kids all went to Memorial High School. As I understand it, he hasn't lived in Katy for years, now.

Report: Clemens, McNamee had lengthy conversation Friday night
    ESPN.com news services

    Updated: January 6, 2008, 8:35 AM ET

Ever since the Mitchell report was released Dec. 13, Roger Clemens and his former trainer Brian McNamee have been trading barbs via lawyers through the media. According to a published report, they spoke by phone Friday night.

While it's uncertain who initiated the call according to New York Newsday, a source told the paper the conversation lasted about an hour and could be described as "emotional."

In the Mitchell report, McNamee said he injected Clemens with steroids during his career.

The paper also reports that the verbal jabs between Clemens and McNamee has drawn the attention of Jeff Novitzky, an IRS special agent responsible for the indictment of Barry Bonds in November on felony charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.

A person familiar with the situation told Newsday on Saturday that Novitzky has turned his focus toward Clemens in the wake of all the back and forth between Clemens and McNamee.

An interview with Clemens on "60 Minutes" is scheduled to air Sunday night and is expected to refute McNamee's claims that the trainer injected the embattled pitcher with steroids.

Clemens says was injected with "lidocaine and B-12" and not steroids or human growth hormone by McNamee, according to a portion of an interview with "60 Minutes" released Thursday.

"Lidocaine and [vitamin] B-12. It's for my joints, and B-12 I still take today," Clemens told Mike Wallace in the interview. It is Clemens' first interview since the release of the Mitchell report.

According to CBS, Clemens calls the accusation that he used steroids and HGH "ridiculous" and says he "never" used any banned substances. The interview was conducted at Clemens' home in Katy, Texas, a suburb west of Houston.

Clemens is scheduled to hold a news conference on Monday, the day after the interview is broadcast.

Earl Ward, an attorney for McNamee, said his client stands by "everything he said to Senator Mitchell and federal investigators."

"Brian has a master's degree in sports medicine," Ward told ESPN The Magazine's Shaun Assael. "He knows the difference between lidocaine, B-12 and testosterone. What he injected into Roger Clemens wasn't lidocaine or B-12. It was testosterone."

Another lawyer for McNamee, Richard Emery, has threatened to sue Clemens for defamation.

"I think that this is a lawyers' game, which allows him to try and attempt to say that McNamee didn't know what he was injecting or that at least Clemens didn't know what he was injecting,'' Emery said.

"It really depends now on how the whole interview goes, and whether he goes after Brian. Look, I don't care whether Clemens used Sodium Pentothal. I don't care if he used strontium 90. My only concern is for Brian's well-being and his future.''

Clemens is among a short list of former players who has been invited to speak before a congressional hearing discussing the Mitchell report on Jan. 15-16.

Why would an IRS agent be the one making the indictment? That seems odd to me.

If Clemens doesn't testify in front of congress, then everyone will know that he is lying.

But don't forget that McNamee is in trouble with the law, and is doing this to get a favorable ruling or sentence.

    So.........just gonna have to see......

As for the original topic, I think it is fairly clear now that race doesn't matter one stinking bit.......

Steroids, in general, have been in the news for quite a while now. Being old news, people just want it to go away, so I don't think it'll be pounded into the ground too much more.
Is anybody really shocked anymore, no matter which name comes out?

If a guy is a total jerk to you when you are trying to do your job, it is human nature to look for the very worst you can say about the guy. Given that Bonds was and is awful to reporters, it so happens that they have the power to paint whatever picture of the guy they want to publicly.

I believe it was Jim Rome who once said that if Bonds weren't such an a-hole, that people would be ready to carry him to Cooperstown in a rickshaw.

Any more questions about whether race has anything to do with it? Clemens is getting treated exactly like Bonds......

The only difference is in how Clemens is treating the media .....

Both could go to jail for some time if proven they lied.
