This happened circa 1988, first of all.....and I have no idea if he was caught. I never kept in contact with the guy after the school year. As much as he bragged about it, it's entirely possible he could have been turned in or something.

Second, I don't need an ethics pep talk. I know what's wrong and right, but thanks anyway. I was 100% joking about "redemption." I forgot to include my ;) I guess.

Third, how could this cause Clutch "all sorts of trouble?"

Clutch, please feel free to email me should anything transpire from this and I'll gladly give the name of the perpetrator and all pertinent facts from the incident in 1988 to the HPD. No problem. I will cooperate fully in any investigation.

What's the statute of limitations on this type of thing? Two years? Ten?

I think it depends on whether either of them likes fried chicken.

I also wrote that I believe roger clemens will be pounced on by the media, so apparently racism isn't my argument, so if that's what you want to argue you can have that argument with yourself.

The media is mostly white. They roundly criticize Bonds. Those are facts. I don't have to throw that out, its on the table already. I never said it was a conspiracy to take down the big black home run king which you keep trying to frame.

its not relevant, you have to make up a situation. You brought up bobby knight, I shot down that point, so you had to make one up. I'm not arguing with made up senarios. the fact that you have to make up a senario is telling, given there are plenty of white athletes out there.

In your intial post, you gave no indication of a date. For all we knew it could have been this past Saturday.

If that were the case, and someone reported your post to the HPD, I suspect they could have subpoened Clutch's records to find out who you are in an effort to locate the thief. Since this was ~20 years ago, I suspect it's a moot point.

It just chaps me when folks post comments, that can easily be taken as positive, about thieves and criminals in general.

I also think a roid-pitcher vs. a roid-hitter would result in more HRs still. Maybe also more KOs but more HRs nonetheless. Imagine Superman pitching against the Hulk.

Clemens was a jerk too. Maybe not as much as Bonds - but still a jerk.

If he gets a free pass from the media, then the race factor would certainly have to be considered.

I agree. However, this revelation comes after Clemons has already probably retired. I would think this would put the last nail in the coffin of his career. Clemons is not currently chasing some record. As someone has said, I think Pete Rose is sort of a better example. He was under the gambling cloud while going for the all time base hit record as I recall. Also at his point Clemons has not been called to testify. After what happened to Bonds I think he would be more hesitant to lie under oath. There is a limit to how long and how much the public can be shocked over the steroid use. I know I find the story to be less interesting all the time.

Too many variables to clearly tell how much is due to racism.

Actually I think the whole Mitchell Report will help take a little heat off of Barry as it will just be another affirmation of how lots of players were doing it.

I'm thinking it's when his plates expire; or when he replaces them.

Clemens WILL get booed like crazy by the fans if he plays next season. I have no doubt in my mind about that. But I have a feeling that he'll retire now due to everything that has come out.

Clemens will never get murdered by the writers like Bonds did because it's well known that Bonds treated the media like crap. Why do you think the media slammed him so bad?

From what I've heard, Clemens was/is an a-hole too.

I do think the a-hole threshold for blacks is lower than whites.

Heard from who? He might be a dick, but if he treats the media with enough respect and gives them access, they are gonna have a more favorable opinion.

I agree. You wonder why pro-athletes might be cold and distant to fans. Maybe it might have something to do with idiotic fans pulling stunts like stealing there license plates.

I'm not blaming you Hoop-T but you former friend is the one who is a jerk. Clemen's might've been a cold fish to fans but I don't blame him if people do stuff like that to him.

I don't think Clemens is getting a pass because he is white. What I've seen the few days it looks like the media is dragging him through the mud as much as they did Barry Bonds. The difference is that Bonds played for years witih steriod allegations. Allegations against Clemens have just come out. If Clemens comes back and pitches I bet you will see him continued to be dragged through the mud.

Also in regard to the race issue why Sosa was rightfully criticized when we he was caught using a corked bat but you didn't see the type of hostility towards him as you did Bonds. While Sosa was as much, possibly more of a cheater than Bonds, he was a far more likable guy.
